Michael carrick into 6/1 second fav

He comes from that Gerrard lampard ( forget Chelsea they are a basket case) era

It would be a bold exciting appointment.

Yes there’s Robbo vibes about this.

His first club seasoned pro great player and he’s a name players respect. Plus he’s local ( ish) so no guff about the cold north east.

Ticks a lot of boxes for me.
Defo young players at Man Utd who won’t make the cut for them but will have a top level careers, It will be the same for players at Newcastle United now I would have thought? Being a young player and being shown a clear route of progression is something that would appeal.

I think our next manager will be Rob Edwards, and will be announced/in place before the weekend's game at The Den.
I think so too. Its not exciting on the surface but football fans are easily bribed (with good results). If we were up in mid-table before the World Cup (not a tough run of fixtures) he'd soon get the fans onside.

'Michael Carricks' Middlesbrough doesn't have the same annoyance as Gerrard / Rooney or Lampard😂

I'm still sure Edwards is pretty much done. He appears to be the first choice and Scott's mate.

I wouldn't worry about his spell at Watford. He was seen as the 'next big thing' prior to that. He speaks very well and is highly rated.

I said from day one that if we sacked Wilder then who's available who's 'better' or as good? I couldn't think of anyone. So the names being thrown around isn't a suprise.

If Chris Wilder wasn't the manager that's just departed, he would be EXACTLY the person everyone on this board would want, exactly the type of manager looked upon to take us to the next level.

Very successful in every job he's done, multiple promotions on his CV in various divisions, Premier League manager of the year 3 years ago.

Shame really.

It would be an exciting appointment, but more because of his reputation as a player, than a coach.

Edwards has taken a club to promotion in his first club role, after coaching in the England set up.

I suppose heart may say Carrick, but head Edwards?
