Michael carrick into 6/1 second fav

Thank fuq I haven't said anything dumb in this thread.
Seems a decent guy, definitely not soft but doubt he would be the overly tough type that doesn't work well these days, he had a proper pro mentality, like Leadbitter.

I think that is a major part of his success so far. Treats the players like adults, is a servant-leader type, tries to identify what is stopping them reaching their level of performance and remove the blockers for them.

This thread shows that people can form an opinion based on nothing, and rigidly argue for it no matter what else is said.
Marvanelli not coming out looking too good here.

Michael Carrick?

There's at least 10 managers who I think we could realistically get who IMO would be better for us.

Carrick has achieved sod all in management.

I'd worry if we punted on Carrick.
We're still 4 points off top two.

Ridiculous appointment.

Another season in The Championship beckons...🤥🤥

On a serious note though, I've said on a few occasions that I got it totally wrong on Carrick.

I was worried his lack of experience (outside those 3 Man Utd games in charge), meant it was a risk, especially with the position we found ourselves in.

However, Scott has proved what a masterstroke this appointment has been.

I'm over the moon to have been so wrong about this appointment, and long may it continue.

He's been brilliant since the day he came in. Both with our football on the pitch and how he conducts himself off the pitch.

I hope we've unearthed an absolute gem (it's certainly looking that way) and I hope we manage to strive off any interest that will come our way, from any of the big boys higher up.

I thought he would be a good appointment, was fully behind it from day one, but expected him to take a couple of seasons to steady the ship, turn things around then mount a promotion challenge. Similar scenario to Karanka.

6 months has just been absolutely incredible, both on and off the pitch and how he has galvanized the club after all of the appointments since Karanka had a melt down.

And totally agree with Scott's input, it was never going to be an overnight success what he does - always going to take some time - but having everyone pulling in the same direction....unheard of.

Just need the walk up prices reducing and ......(joke😁)

Only 15 months ago we were in a carrickless world...a.world.of uncertainty....managerial ins and outs.
I am giving this thread an unashamed hoof as it contains some very interesting comments about what would happen if we appointed him
I have enjoyed reading it back

******* of note crystal Palace chairman had mentioned today he wants carrick at Palace..
2 hopes mate....Bob and no
*******

Seems like a no brainer that we made the right decision with Carrick but looking back at the other managers linked they have all done well which is probably unusual. People were adamant, me included, that they didn't want Edwards (because he was Scott's mate) or Gary O'Neil (because he's a ****) but they've all done good jobs. Edwards got a team to the PL before Carrick has and Corberan is currently in a better position to do the same. O'Neil and Dyche have both got PL jobs again.

Leo would have definitely have been a disaster.
