Michael carrick into 6/1 second fav

Fair enough, presume he's ready for the next move then. It's tricky as he worked under Jose (as did Karanka, so definitely one in the "plus" column) but also with Ole (a big negative for me).

Am sure I read he's settled in the north west. Can't see him wanting to move his family.

He did well in the few games he had as Man Utd caretaker, and he seems a intelligent football person.

I'm on the fence with this one though, but would rather him than Edwards.

From an odds point of view I put £4 ( big spender) with betvictor at 25/1. 15mins later he was 14/1. The market is obviously tiny so dont think the move is decisive as it stands.

What's he up to at present? If he's sat on the sofa fits our managerial (no compo) template.

I can honestly say there are so many different candidates at the moment but not one stands out as being head and shoulders above the others. Usually a manager goes and there are a couple of clear outstanding candidates that are obvious choices, this time I really don't have a clue which direction we should go in.

All I can say is I'm glad I don't have to make the decision as it's a minefield. I'd probably interview those who are interested and perhaps speak to a few others too, for example approach Carrick and see if he's willing to have a conversation. Then see who comes across best in that interview (and subsequent ad-hoc checks with others in the game who've worked with them before).

The only stipulation I would have is it has to be someone who is on board with the clubs structure and who plays passing front foot football. We've screwed the club over so many times over recent years by not having a clear identity on and off the pitch and switching playing styles/philosophies on a whim leading to an unbalanced car crash of a squad on a number of occasions. We need unity from the top down and a clear vision.

On talk sport just now white and Jordan have both confirmed they have heard its going to be mark Robins... I'm happy with that of true...he will be a good fit...
If it happens then won't it be the first time Gibson will have appointed a manager currently under contract at another club?

Would be happy with him.

Expecting to be disappointed with the appointment this time though.

Seem to remember Keith Lamb sounding out Strachan at a Coventry away game prior to his appointment, so maybe this isn't as much of a shot in the dark? Maybe Gibbo and co had a word on Saturday - Robins said he would be interested if there was a vacancy - Monday, Wilder's sacked and we sort out details with Coventry owners, who are always after making a few quid?!
