Michael Caine with his mum in. London. He said this about her. "I'm not sure she ever quite understood what I did. And she certainly never understood how much I earned. She asked me once, how much do you earn for a film? And I said, 'A million pounds' 'Oh' she said, How much is that? She had no way of computing that sort of money, so I said, it means you don't have to do anything mum, work for anything, or want for anything ever, ever again. So no taking crafty cleaning jobs to be with your mates or I'll get into trouble with the papers'''.
Someone also posted this follow up story. Not sure how true it is but a nice story never the less.
He asked her to accompany him to the premiere of ‘Zulu’. She made an excuse to not go, so he took a girlfriend. As he was walking the red carpet, he saw his mum standing behind the rope barrier. She just wanted to see him arrive.
Much worse was when he stabbed Dave from the Winchester.I could never take that scene seriously,it's Alf Roberts from Corrie ffs!
Thats the film 271266, cheersHe is always asked why he appeared in such a rubbish film as Jaws4.
For that very reason it bought his mum a house.
Did they ever explain how his family were Geordie and he was Cockney in Get Carter?Great photo asred, love Michael Caine, he's been a great actor, Get Carter was clsss, Zulu, which I cant watch enough, is up there in one of the best war filns of all time for me
He played a role in a film for the very reason he could buy his mother a house
Different times Harry.....GI Elvis fell 'in love' with schoolgirl Priscilla, didn't Bill Wyman start dating Mandy Smith when she was 14, Hugh Hefner was lauded for his 'bunny girls' and Benny Hill was harmless fun?!Once saw him in a 70s film that was well dodgy. Called Blame It On Rio. Basic plot was him and his mate take their daughters on holiday and he ends up sleeping with his mate's underage daughter. The most shocking thing was how it was portrayed - as just one of those holiday things, rather than how it would be seen today, which is basically the rape of a minor.
