MFC & Middlesbrough in general question.

I’m writing an article on the effects of how having a successful football team impacts the area of Middlesbrough as a whole, looking to gather people’s thoughts on it.

Specifically the Premiership/Europe period and the last 5 years, to create a contrast.

How do you think MFC being successful/unsuccessful affects the area as a whole?

The difference in both is literally highlighted in these first 9 games of the season.
We didn't win for 7 games and everything was behind doom and gloom in the fan base, you'd have thought relegation was confirmed and every new signing was Gibson being cheap.
However we've had a fantastic week and all of a sudden everybody is happy. The threads are happy and fans want to talk about football properly again.

I found over the period of the 7 games, the fan reaction made it virtually impossible for me to discuss Boro because I was finding it difficult to deal with fans over the top over reactions which tbf they're entitled to.

I hope this run continues and we can be happy because personally I enjoy talking football and watching every game possible

I think you need to add in another element of competing forms of entertainment or culture.
Makes a big difference, especially in Northern towns.

You also need to look at the larger macroeconomic climate, rather than looking for a cause & effect related purely to the football team and our results.
