After the huge success of last year’s exhibition, Joslin Rhodes at Preston Farm has ‘teamed up’ again with MFC Foundation to host another Football Memorabilia Memory Room Exhibition.

Running over two days (Mon 17 April - Tues 18 April) this event is to raise awareness and much needed funds for the amazing work the Foundation does in relation to Dementia and the issues facing local people affected by the condition.

Doors open at 6pm on Monday with Boro legend Alan Peacock ‘kicking off’ the event with his own memory box containing memorabilia gathered throughout his prestigious career. The football-based project was created following Alan’s own Dementia diagnosis.

The exhibition is part of Roary's Big Week with the aim being to spread the word about the Foundation and hopefully raise funds along the way.

As part of the week, the Central Library, the water fountains outside the Town Hall, the Town Hall itself and the Newport Bridge, will, from time to time, be lit in red.

AM Recruitment are hosting a networking coffee morning at their Grange Business Centre headquarters on Belasis Avenue in Billingham on Tuesday from 9 until 11, then on Wednesday a group of intrepid souls are cycling from Hull City’s MKM Stadium to the Riverside, arriving in time for the 8pm kick-off between the two teams.

The route is around 100 miles and each of the riders has been sponsored.

Earlier that afternoon there is a Walking Football Tournament and bucket collection at our Herlingshaw Centre.

Two days later, on Friday, several schools around the region have agreed to allow their pupils to dress in red, while the annual Middlesbrough College Business 5-a-side tournament takes place on the external all-weather pitches at the college’s complex, each team having paid an entry fee to take part.

All funds raised across the week will help us continue our work across the communities of Teesside, for the young in age and young at heart.

Am going along tonight so will report back.
I know that Alan and the team are very active in going out to care homes in our area. It can really help the brighten the day for residents who through the memory box can travel back in time to somewhere their own memory time machine is more tuned in to.

This was superb - if you are off work tomorrow I would urge you to go.
For starters there is some cracking Boro memorabilia on show but also because behind this is supporting MFC Foundation going out into care homes and taking Alan Peacock's Memory Box in and opening up a route into peoples minds again. Opening a closed book, if you like. They are the only football club charity doing this in the country.

I will stick some photos across.

Would have loved to attend and support this exhibition. Hopefully it will be put on in other places too.

Unfortunately I once had such an unpleasant experience dealing with that JR business and the management that I could never go near or recommend that place to anyone. Hopefully the fantastic MFC Foundation do well from this but it will stick in one’s craw if it means “good publicity” for that horrid company.

Last chance to view this exhibition today at Preston Farm. Lots of fascinating photos, programmes, autographs, shirts, trophies and videos hopefully jogging your memory whether you were a Boro fan starting out in the 50s, 60s, 70s or even 2000s.
England caps of Alan Peacock. Cup final refs shirt, cards and medal of Jeff Winter and more recently a tremendous photo of the Boro team celebrating their penalty shoot out success at Old Trafford - last season.
A room full of Boro memories. And Alan Peacock's memory box that goes into care homes throughout Teesside containing Alan's first Boro contract, call up letters from the FA, a xmas card from Alf Ramsey, newspaper cuttings etc. Details of Alan's personal record 31 goals in a season for Boro. This box opens memories for Alan (through his dementia) and for the residents of care homes alike.
