Lionel Messi can go goalless for the next 95 GAMES and he’ll still have a better goal scoring Ratio than 🇵🇹 Cristiano Ronaldo.

– He can also go without assisting for 548 GAMES and he’ll still have a better assist providing ratio than Ronaldo.

– He can also go without any goal contributions for 196 GAMES and he’ll still have a better G+A ratio than Ronaldo 🤯

Just seen the above on Facebook, haven’t fact checked it, really surprised by it.

Amazing if true!

Unbelievable stats and there is no doubt whatsoever that he and Ronaldo are head and shoulders above everyone else. However, though I'm going to be shot down in flames for saying this, I prefer to watch Ronaldo playing and there are some stats undoubtedly in his favour - different leagues, different teams etc.

These type of stats just cement his place as the GOAT for me.

Ronaldo is incredible, but Messi is a level above.

He scores and creates goals for sheer fun.
Greatest of all time, not even close. Even Messi will tell you that pele was head and shoulders above him.

91 Goals in 2012, his stats are incredible but that is just something else. No one will ever come close to that again

I think you are right. I don't think anyone so young will have a team with such good players pretty much built around and for him. Ronaldo didn't have that luxury until he was a lot older. Stats don't tell you everything, it's a lot tougher scoring goals in the premier league than in la liga when you play for a top team, so I think who is the best is a lot closer than the stats suggest but I do think Messi has the edge.

Until a few years ago La Liga has been considerably better than the premier league, look at his record against English sides in europe, do you think he would struggle against the likes or Burnley or Norwich?

Dont get the good players argument, look at Barcelona over the last few years, they have been absolutely shocking, yet Messi has still posted incredible numbers and pretty much dragged them to titles they should have never won. Their decline will be huge once he retires.

I never understood the "Yes but Messi hasn't done it in England" argument. Ever.

I think the salient take out is the assists. People can and will argue until the cows come home with Ronaldo or Messi is the better player.

When it come to the question of who you would rather have on YOUR team, playing alongside you, surely it's Messi all the time?

The difference at the top of la liga and the premier is not there but until recently real Madrid and Barcelona had nearly 75 % of the last liga resources. The premier league is much more shared around. I would as say the bottom end of the premier league is a lot better than la liga. Messi as incredible as he is would not have got anywhere near the numbers he has playing in the premier league or even serie A. His number for Argentina sort of back that up. Playing in a good not great team that is not always built around him.

He has 26 goals against England's big 6 in 34 games I think. Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal

Are you telling me, playing against the likes of Newcastle, Southampton, Villa, Everton, Palace, Wolves....not to mention the relegation sides each season....that he wouldn't have got similar numbers?

Shame that the test of quality for some people is performing on a ***** pitch whilst some championship footballer kicks lumps out of you for 90 minutes.

If we going strictly by La Liga stats The stats are a lot closer, Ronaldo scores more than a goal a game in La Liga he is nowhere near that the rest of his career. Its more about resources lower premier league teams have proportionally more money and therefore better players and squads than La Liga. The contrast is even starker comparing lower league teams in england and Spain the copa del ray opposition is generally weaker than FA cup opposition. I am not saying that Messi wouldn't have the best stats ever if he played in Premier League what I am saying is he wouldn't have the ridiculous numbers he achieved just playing in Spain.
