Messi looks finished

Maradona did all his achievements whilst maintaining a terrible diet and taking class a drugs, he is clearly the better footballer than either messi and ronaldo who needed to be fully fit and drug free to beat his achievements
There's some truly idiotic posters on this site, but having read a few of your posts across different topics, you're definitely up there as one of the worst

He also repeatedly took performance enhancing drugs at international level, and played in a notoriously corrupt league where he left in disgrace under the shadow of match fixing and heavy drug use.

If he took the performance enhancing drugs for Argentina, I'm sure he will have done so at Napoli, especially when they were largely faking his test results anyway because of rampant cocaine use in his time there.

Having a terrible diet, and being a drug addict, whilst not reaching anywhere near the same personal heights as Messi or Ronaldo isn't really an argument for him being the better footballer.

Messi is my favourite player ever, just his name is enough to draw my attention. He is however, coming towards the end of his career and its starting to show and it doesn't help when you have Mbappe absolutely flying and looking ready to take over as the king of the football world.

Yes, but if he really wants to do that he'll have to leave PSG.

Give over, he scored a goal and did a 5 yard pass which qualified as an assit :ROFLMAO:

That's not what you said though, you said he was being carried by Argentina.

I don't think there's anyone on earth who doesn't recognise he's declining, it's natural.

He's still a vital player for Argentina though, and is still regularly scoring and providing for them, and not just from the penalty spot like some others.

If he strolls around at the edge of the penalty box then I believe he is being carried, regardless of what his name is, his legacy and what he has won.

He scored the crucial goal against Mexico, which was a fine finish outside the box and you think he's been carried?

You're either a troll or Cristiano Ronaldo.

Hull fans aren’t the brightest when it comes to football clearly. Please do go back to your own board now 🥰

Maradona has two things over Messi:

Winning a World Cup (and being by far the best player);

Winning a league title with a club who just weren’t fashionable or historically successful.
Ok they weren’t Napoli and have always been a big club but remember when Messi started playing for Barca they’d only won one European cup and were firmly in Real Madrids shadow. It was probably more to do with having Xavi and Iniesta in the side at the same time but Messis time at Barcelona coincided with by far the most successful period in their history

Undoubtedly so but still not the scale of what Maradona achieved with Napoli domestically. Barca may not have been repeated European champions but they'd won La Liga countless times.

He's been on another planet for pretty much his whole career, we are now seeing him coming to the end of an incredible career, but people are still expecting the 26-year-old Messi to be running all over the pitch. It's just unrealistic, most players are well retired by his age. He can still offer moments of brilliance as we've seen. I'm glad I got to see him live though and have watched many of his games, as I don't think they'll be another in my life that will come close to him.

Barca was pretty rubbish before his era & he's led Argentina to a WC final and 4 Copafinals. I can't see him winning this one as the team just isn't good enough, but his achievements and what he's done on a pitch mean he doesn't need to. Just look at Barca since he left.

Maradonna was an incredible talent. The 86 side that won the WC wasn't rubbish either. The game was totally different back then & yes he got kicked all over, but the defending was shocking, hardly anyone tracked back.

The game is constantly evolving though. We should just feel lucky that we got to witness their greatness.

He took them to the final in 1990 as well, no mean achievement, they were rubbish as a team but it is his individual brilliance in the semi against Brazil which genuinely scared the Brazil defence and his brilliant pass to his strike partner that set up the matches only goal. They didn't deserve to win the world cup because overall they were a nasty cheating team but his skill shone out, so add 90 to that list. Don't compare them at intl level Messi doesn't touch Maradona,, I see the stats but Maradona is way above Messi in World Cup lore, Messi is ok but he's nothing on Maradona on his overall impact.
That was the last 16 game, not the semi final.

Quarter final they beat Yugoslavia on penalties, Maradona missed his.

Semi final they beat the hosts Italy, again on pens

Mido spent his entire career overweight, clearly a better striker than Ronaldo who had to keep himself in unreal shape to top Midos achievements

He’s done that his entire career, fairly obvious he isn’t the one running miles and chasing everything. Seems to have worked out ok
