Memphis Police Murdering Tyre Nichols

Accountability has been eroded hugely in all UK state organisations in recent years. I'm pretty sure that if there is a police shooting in the next year or so the government (Sue Ellen especially), the tory press and GBeebies et al will defend he police to the hilt, no matter what the circumstances.

You are off the wall son.

There is no excuse for what they did but please don’t slander all police. There was 76 police officers killed in the line of duty in the USA a 50% increase on the year before. The best thing to do their is outlaw the use of guns to the Joe Public
You only have to look a the Met, Cleveland police to look at our own problems won’t policing

For clarity to facefuzz, the issues our police have are different to the issues America have.

Our police don't kill innocent people, so it's not a fair comparison.

They just rape them.

I didn’t compare them, I was talking about the type of people the police attract

I didn’t say the American and British police are the same.

Read the post ffs
Only the story is about people in USA abusing power, then you said it’s the same with the uk police force. That is a comparison.

He will use anything to have a dig at the Tories.
I don't see this as a party political issue, rather the states ability to hold their police service to account.

There had been many damaging cases recently, especially in the Met, but these have to be measured against the overall number of serving police officers and also acknowledge the ability to identify wrongdoing and deal with it proportionately.

There's an awful lot of ignorance and assumptions around the issue of police misconduct, not least in this board, but the truth is that the overwhelming majority of police officers are motivated by a duty to serve the public and help societies most vulnerable.

But the good work of the overwhelming majority are sadly drowned out by the tiny minority that grab the headlines.

The video was sickening to watch. Those 5 officers have been rightly sacked and charged however I don't understand how they are out on bail.

Not sure it's been said but all 5 officers are black. So I'm struggling to understand is it a police issue or a racist issue or a combination of both?
Its a police gang issue, race has nothing to do with it.

I'm not talking about this particular murder. It's been found that race has played an issue in police brutality in the past.
How can I not infer you were talking about this murder when you said this

Race plays a part when its white against black, but in this particular case, it appears race was not a factor and was more just about sheer police gang brutality.
