I’d rather see a free press personally, as times like this are seized upon to restrict these civil liberties.
as lets not forget the press were right about Cummings ( despite no 10 initial denials) trip up north just as they were right about cash for questions and the mp expenses case, all of these were vociferously denied by Whitehall at the time as well.

The press in our country are a national disgrace. HOWEVER... it was this government who scrapped Leveson II, because the rabid sections of the press were at the time on their side, libelling Corbyn. They can't complain now that their own attack dogs have turned around and bit them.

The tweet was out of order and has been swifty dealt with. The photographers scrum is also wrong.

in his defence people are understandably angry at this. There's a certain helplessness felt that the government are no actively taking the p!ss out of us and there is nothing we can do about it.
The tweet was OTT but I totally understand the anger.
I'm kind of getting disappointed in fat cats constant questioning of the media in the past few days: Person breaks rules designed to save our lives, refuses to apologise, entire cabinet humiliates themselves and lies to save him. Oh, it must be the fault of the people who told is this had happened? Huh?

I saw this bout of pearl clutching from the usual suspects who cry foul, yesterday.
Andy Dawson is a chancer and a gobshite - in fact, man getting angry at the slightest thing is his whole schtick - but writing a few pieces for the Mirror and Guardian does not make him a journalist. That tweet was over the top and he's likely going to lose out financially from people giving him a wide berth.
But to lump him in with the actual journalists on the newsdesk who have been uncovering the stories on Cummings and other government failings, and proclaim 'it does not give them free reign to do what they want' is disingenuous.
As ever, context is everything - it was around the fact that Michael Gove was lying through his teeth to broadcasters and us yesterday. And his dreadful wife was cheering him on. Which is infuriating, when it already feels like the general public is the butt of a big joke.
