Media attacks in America

lots of footage on twitter of various reporters and cameramen being assaulted by police over in the states.

Every modern dictatorship knows you have to suppress the media, Geobbels taught them all that.

Scary times in America.

I know it's subtler over here but with them now muting journalists for asking follow up question in the daily briefings, banning some media source from asking question at all, we are definitely on the same path. We need to wake up people, before it's too late.

It is worrying times, Trump with his America first policies and Johnson with his Brexit and so called getting our sovereignty back (even when it was never lost). These policies have turned countries and their people inwards and thinking only of themselves. I was hoping this pandemic might have enabled people to think how we are all connected across the world and rely on each other for different products, foods and raw materials along with showing up which jobs really matter that people do.
With a economic depression pending, the so called leaders that we have now, with their rotten values and contempt for certain groups of people, plus their blaming other countries, their blatant lies and censorship of those who challenge them whilst they continue to gorge off the backs of others, they devide people. This seems like a lot of the same ingredients that created WW2 and no doubt manner other wars. They bring in the military who can't think or act for themselves would turn their guns on their own people to keep such people in power as happens all across the world. Neither Johnson and some of his cabinet and Trump and his cronies are fit to govern out great countries. Let's live, work and play together and look after all of human kind for better and we need leaders that represent the good in people and not the bad.

TBH I don't think it - reporters being attacked & kit trashed by police - driven by the politicians. I think it's the police themselves wanting to punish those they see as persecuting them: catching them in the act, also just a reflection of how lacking selection & training is for the police.... many police seem just unsuited to being in the uniform, never mind have access to guns..

The American Civil Liberties Union has reminded citizens to download & use their app when recording events as it is automatically uploaded to their servers.. if mobiles are taken away & 'lost' the footage remain on their servers.

Obama has been on Medium giving his thoughts - same as George Floyd's brother Terrance: register to vote & vote to change the system..

The state will always, even in The Land of the Free, have more & deadlier firepower than the citizens.. they can only be defeated & influence change by the ballot box..

I agree the police prob do feel somewhat vilified but it’s clear that trump has demonised the media to a point that some of supporters now see them as at best hostile and worst the real enemy.
