Meanwhile in New Zealand...

Unfortunately I would say fortunately. It’s a lose lose situation with Covid, your dammed if you do and dammed if you don’t.
Just look north of the border with sturgeon she is losing voter for the snp because she is trying to be more strict and yet if she follows bj she will lose voters for being too lenient or being a puppet.

New Zealand have had relatively low numbers and don’t have 1000’s crossing the channel illegally with unknown health status. Given then the uk also has 60million more people living in it and a land mass which is smaller I’m pretty sure will also have a dramatic effect on the situation.

I agree she has done well and I think the fact she has rejected pay increase is commendable and others could learn from that but from relatives who live over there I know that she’s not as well liked as you may think and this pandemic has probably saved her as the MP.

Corbyn would have just taken money from the workers and given it to the unemployed and immigrants. He would also have decided to use covid as an excuse to cancel Brexit and go against what the country voted for like it or not.
At least your username is going to be very apt from 1st Jan.

It’s pretty apt now really as more and more places being included on the list of restricted countries.

oh and as for the comment about the deadly virus and the tories making jokes get a life you sad git. As for being a Tory if you think I am then your mistaken. I would have voted labour if corbyn wasn’t in charge with Abbott anywhere near the party. Two clowns of the highest order and anyone who thought different and criticises BJ for his behaviour should give their heads a shake.

Leaving aside what a BRILLIANT idea Brexit is. You are guilty of regurgitating the lies that the Tories and their media have been pushing for years.

For a start I didn’t vote for brexit but I did accept the result unlike many. As for your suggestion that I think foreigners are going to take what’s mine your wrong. I believe foreign workers come here and do valuable work which some of the lazy bums who are British refuse to do because they believe it’s beneath them. What I don’t agree with is taking in all these refugees who travel through many safe countries and then use boats to cross the channel to come here and are give a roof and support. If you genuinely were speaking asylum you stop at the first safe country not choose which one suits. We are an island on the other side of Europe from where they seem to be travelling from and travel through at least 2 countries prior to heading for the uk.

And there you have it... Proof that people really do think in this way. Staggering, it really is, but proof as to why this cretin Johnson got his landslide victory.

Eh?? I think you’ve got your posts mixed up here...... but as you’ve got me here...”two clowns”?? Goofy and Donald Duck could have done a better job of this pandemic than the Tory party..... and the least said about Brexit the better!

I never said you were a Tory, you are the sort of person I would not waste my time caring about who you vote for, but clearly a Tory produced the coronavirus related joke above featuring Abbot and they shouldn’t be doing it, some things you just don’t joke about.

Heard it all now, didn’t realise Teesside had any pansies.
Plenty of other sick jokes have been produced than one about a labour PM and a virus. Probably even worse ones really.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to be high and mighty and I don‘t have a problem with sick jokes generally but a few on here have suffered from COVID either personally or through relatives or are worried about family members working on the NHS front line so we will have to agree to disagree about joking on this subject.

What are your views on this Michael?

If people are so against asylum seekers how about we apply some pressure to stop the sale of weapons to regimes displacing millions across the globe?!
What about some reflection on how our own foreign policy has pushed these very people to our doorstep?
Goingnowehere: With the rampant corruption and cronyism we have seen in recent weeks it disgusts me that you lay any responsibility for the state of this country at the feet of the most desperate and deprived collection of people possible.

Earlier in this thread, or maybe another - I forget- there have been a couple, someone was bemoaning the characterisation of brexit voters as thick xenophobes and all you have done is spout daily mail headlines and perfectly perpetuate the trope.
How any parent can see a family forced to flee their own country in search of a life for their children and come to the conclusion they’re the F***ing problem in this country is beyond me. Was it you that ticked that brexit box to sell your own country down the river, supposedly for a marginal gain for your daughter in 20 years or something ridiculous? (There have been a few ridiculous things said around here today so it might not )
Anyway a a father fleeing a war torn land, certain death and poverty - travelling thousands of miles with family in tow - being confined to dehumanising camps- and doing whatever it takes to give their family the best chance to succeed- that’s abhorrent to you?
Sod the asylum seekers, mate, we should just deport you.

All these business men and women mix in the same circles so corbyn would have been doing the same. Do you think he would be going out to a local tradesman and offering them big contracts? I think not they put them out for tender and contracts are awarded. He may have given them a heads up on the prices who knows but who cares if the money was going to be spent anyway as long as the jobs get done.
They haven't gone out to tender and the job hasn't got done. That's the whole problem. How about you look at the actual issue, rather than an imaginary one?

Don't get involved too much with politics because politicians generally seem like souless blame machines that seem hellbent on promising the world but only delivering a big fat sack of BS, but Jacinda Ardern comes across like she actually gives a funk about the people and her country. So refreshing to see.
