McNair

Take him out for Fry as soon as possible. Got turned 2 or 3 times in first half for their only chances of the game.
They should have scored at 0-0 after he got caught out.

He had a decent game and a really solid second half. But their couple of chances did come from mistakes from him

McNair is not good enough to start at centre back every week. He's good cover for several positions, CB being one of them, but he isn't good enough to be 1st choice in any position. Fry is comfortably better and should return.

McNair did have a good game yesterday. Some of the things he does is much better than Fry, particularly his passing but he's not as a good a defender. I'm not saying he isn't capable of being a CB but he's just not a great one.

I think Fry will come back in for Paddy against Blackpool, now they have Mick McCarthy as the new manager, you know its gonna get launched at every opportunity and Fry is better in the air.

Thought Paddy did well with the ball on Saturday but defensively still makes too many errors.
Twice he jumped into to try and intercept balls he was never gonna get near and Watford should have punished us. His decision making needs to be better and he needs to hold his position more and slow the attacker up.

Credit where it is due, clean sheet and a good personal performance from McNair too.
Everyone played at least well on saturday. It was great to be there.

Paddy Had a reasonable game on Saturday but easily beaten on a couple of occasions. Too easily beaten in the air for me. Fry straight back in!

Fry made a number of mistakes against Sunderland, not just including the sending off.

McNair had a good game against Watford, as he had against Millwall.

For me, even though I'd prefer Fry long term, McNair has to keep his place.

I don't think it sets a great example for McNair to immediately lose his place after each game he starts, especially when we've kept a cleansheet in both of them.

Yep…I can see the argument but Fry is easily the better defender for me.

Think it’s only right I start a thread praising him after my thread pretty much hammering him after Brighton. Done well when he’s played recently and yesterday was comfortably his all round performance of this season. Should of scored too.

Tough one for Carrick next week. I think our best partnership is Fry and Lenihan but Fry was poor aside from the sending off last week and McNair never put a foot wrong yesterday.

For team morale it may be best to stick with Paddy.

What do you think?
I think IF Stoke come in with £5M today to replace exiting Soutter (Sold for £15M) I'd snap their hands off. Hes solid but he isn't a first choice centre half
