McNair ----> Stoke City

I would actually be a bit gutted if we sold Paddy, I thought at times in the first half of the season he was excellent. Driving forward and chipping in with a few goals. A few important ones towards the end too.

He's a solid championship midfielder with an eye for a goal, on that basis I wouldn't want to lose him.

As somebody already said, he isn't a world beater but overall he was good in a turgid season.

He's a much more complete player than Wing too.

Why do Stoke want him? Who's he going to replace? Joe Allen? Sam Clucas? James McClean? They're all better than him.

I thought he was our most productive player for a chunk of the season, granted he was inconsistent but he looked a threat getting forward and seemed to relish the game time and responsibility after so long on the sidelines under Pulis

Strange different perceptions.
I said before that he Is the football equivalent of beige. I sometimes forgot he was playing. He did score some goals that won us points though and played out of position a lot. I’ll be glad to see him go

I started out as a big fan of Wing and 7 goals is a good number.
My concerns are with his physicality.
He can't run. Even walking he looks awkward and knock kneed. He is slow and simply can't cover ground.
He has vision and can play a good pass and shoot, but this is nullified by being easily marginalised and bullied.
If he plays he has to play much further forward. A deep midfield role just exposes his immobility and inability to tackle and close down.
7 goals ain't bad for a slouch.

Agree, I'd play him a bit further forward in a sort of 'Zidane role'. :)

Trequartista?

Definitely plenty of 'exchange' chat from Warnocks presser. I've never heard much of that recently.

It does make you wonder if we've been offered a few play + cash deals. Fry - Gibson? Stoke have a massive squad so maybe they have one or two Warnock may fancy.

With Howson Saville and others in midfield this is probably one that we can sell to provide funds for positions we are weak in
Thought he started thus season well, but while not being awful he seemed to go off the boil a bit after his sending off at Swansea

He's 25 isn't he? Needs to find and nail down a position. It's hard going through a career as utility player.

He started out as a CB and ended up as a CM at Sunderland. He's also played fullback. He needs a position. I'm not sure where he plays for Ireland? You'd imagine that's where Stoke see him.

He does have a decent shot and a burst of power and direct play. He's been with us 2 years and I couldn't tell you what he is? 🤔

Is it a fact he's in negotiations with Stoke?

Wing was quality in his breakthrough Season before last. His strike against Palace in the Cup was arguably goal of the season & a great strike against Luton on the opening night of the season. He's an attacking midfielder & couldn't see why Woodgate wanted him to play so deep when he couldn't tackle a Sunday Dinner. In an ideal word Saville would be the one you would want to punt. Unfortunately when Bamford was sacrificed it was probably because nobody was interested in the 3 Stooges Assombalonga, Fletcher & Gestede.

We paid double what he was worth imo - reinvest in someone who doesn’t kick the ball out for a goal kick at dead ball situations

He was touted as Man Utds long term successor to Gary Neville at one point.. then he went to Sunderland as a midfielder where he was so highly regarded their fans were screaming blue murder that they'd let him go for the paltry sum of £5m

He's worth around £5m - not £2.5m thank you

He's a regular for us and Northern Ireland, one of our better players last season and one of NI's better players too.
