McNair ----> Stoke City

Bit concerned if this went ahead as Warnock seems to like Wing. He is never a 90 minute player without some serious work.

Happy with Saville think he will improve under warnock. Gets up and down the pitch. Playing a full season will knock in 6-7 goals

He's a good utility player and done a decent job this season. I was surprised he was not used much by Pulis in 2018/19. I can see Stoke been interested because of the Northern Ireland connection. I would only sell him to raise decent cash for other purchases. I am a bit surprised Warnock selling him (if we do) in the sense he is a physically strong midfielder. Clayton looks to have gone and Morrison went and Roberts returned, so we have not a lot in midfield.

Really? Didn't think Wing got much of a look in under Warnock. He didn't make a start did he and came off the bench less and less as the matches progressed.

By that I meant he seemed to be 1st call or point off the bench... especially in games we were losing. If McNair goes I think Warnock seems to think he can do a job. I agree he didn’t start but may now if the position opens up

can't see Stoke paying £5 million for a player and only giving hm a 2 year contract, he looks alright sometimes Mcnair, but he's not somebody you would say drives the team on or is a leader, he just sort of turns up and does a job

Not sure where've you read that but I haven't seen £5m quoted anywhere. It'll be a case of nominal fee, plus signing on fee, and same wages probably.

What,like Wing's 7 this season? Not that I don't rate Saville.

Expensive one would think.

i reckon between 3-5 mil would get him, but yes that is probably expensive for us. Maybe they would be interested in loaning him out if we cover majority of wages? Certainly worth asking the question anyway

He's making way for the rebuild, he knows who is coming in and the club can't keep them all. I'd expect Wing to be on the way too, with Howson and Saville kept for the middle of the park.

Clayton and McNair already gone is good news as far as both squad ability and finances go.

I think Wing is worth keeping around. He's still raw (from his footballing up bringing) and doubt that will change.

I would like to think Warnock could get a bit more out of him. He played in a few 'strange' positions last season (like many😕).

I don't think you can understate the 7 goals he scored. That's more than any of the other midfielders and widemen. Only Britt and Fletcher scored more. He's definitely worth keeping around for the bench at the very least.

He has a decent shot on him (I've read woody and pulis say one of the best finishers at the club). I doubt he's on anywhere near Howson / Saville etc wages.

I started out as a big fan of Wing and 7 goals is a good number.
My concerns are with his physicality.
He can't run. Even walking he looks awkward and knock kneed. He is slow and simply can't cover ground.
He has vision and can play a good pass and shoot, but this is nullified by being easily marginalised and bullied.
If he plays he has to play much further forward. A deep midfield role just exposes his immobility and inability to tackle and close down.
