McDonalds - I just don't get it

I eat either a McD or BK maybe twice a year, usually if I'm travelling with work which I don't do often, or maybe at the airport. Purely out of convenience. I sometimes think I'll enjoy this because it's ages since I last had one. Not a chance on earth I would queue like some are right now

people in cars queuing along the road to Coulby KFC last evening.... zero doubt there will be loads of discarded KFC boxes littering the roads today..

Yeah I'm with the OP. Dont get it, never have. I've had them of course and no doubt will do again (although must be well over a year since now) but purely for convenience.

Chips - would rather have them from a chippy. French fries are crap.

Burgers - rather have one in a pub or from a burger van.

If I'm going for a high salt, high fat meal would rather have a Chinese or an Indian.

To queue like that for a MacDonalds? Baffling.

Yet people will queue and pay hundreds of pounds to watch the boro and shuffle around like penguins for half an hour in the concourse buying the worst chips and burgers known to man  It's almost like people enjoy different things!

(some) Chinese and Indians have been open for the last few months, McDonalds hasn't.

There are two reasons I eat the occasional MaccieD:

1. I'm travelling and their coffee is half the price of the Costa outlet across the concourse

2. I'm in a hurry and want something quick

I cannot imagine why anyone would queue for hours to get one? The one near big Tesco in Stockton always has a queue on a Saturday for the drive through yet if you park, walk in and buy your meal you can be out of there before the queue has even moved. People are stupid

There's often queues out of The Parkway onto Stainton Way queuing for the MCD's drive through at Coulby. It's a sad display of our society.

I don't think I have had one since 2007. I used to almost have a craving at times, which is why they are the way they are. I didn't find they filled me up for long - almost like a large snack opposed to a meal. I have stopped Chinese and Indian takeouts too. I suppose the occasional fish and chips is my takeaway treat. Its the cost as well the calories of takeaways.

I've never understood why people eat at the Boro match. Can't people go for two hours without eating? The food always looks and smells terrible.

I get people eating McD I really do. It's convenience food. Truly dreadful nutritionally but all the salt in it makes it taste OK.

Queueing for it seems utter insanity to me. You negate it's only plus point. Why not just cook something?

As a species we have evolved to crave fat. This kept us nourished through periods when food was scarce.

It is only really the last 100 years where most of the western world didn't routinely starve to death. This isn't long enough for us to have evolved beyond that, There is also, as an aside, evidence to suggest we have done evolving.

I cannot even remember the last time I had McDonald's food. Although their coffee is nice.

There probably is an addiction factor. Plus yes, people like different things. So I assume some people genuinely do love the taste.

I find it strange because I think it's very easy to find superior versions of the type of food they offer (in my opinion). But can only assume some people actually prefer that stuff they produce.
