McClaren in for criticism

Obviously given comments from those in the know, as a coach he's outstanding. Is he a leader though (which a manager needs to be)? Probably not.

What was exceptional under him was our recruitment. Open to debate maybe how much input our managers have and we clearly paid very good wages. But I doubt we've ever had a period like it for the consistency in the quality we were bringing in.

Mind, you didn't need to be Bill Shankley to know that Viduka for £4.5m and Jimmy on a free was ridiculously good business.

I liked the football we played under him, but I never warmed to him and his soundbite interviews. Regardless of, 'best manager for the Boro', he wasn't this fan's favourite, nowhere close.
His football was awful sometimes but like has been said he gave us times we will probably never see again.

Love the fella too. Best times of my life supporting the team. Didn't agree with the negative football comments at the time and was labelled a rara on here 😂.

Two world class strikers, only one holding midfielder, attacking full backs, young downing on the wing. Great times. Would love us to lay remotely like that now

Ref Negative

We sometimes played with one striker against teams like Portsmouth and we had 6 on the books, but in some of the UEFA matches we had 4 strikers on.
