McCartney at Glastonbury

Still playing after 2 and a half hours! Gotta give an 80yo some leeway on his voice, quite a bit of leeway really given his contribution to music. Emotional set for me, vividly remember listening to Love Me Do come on the radio while waiting for my haircut in Bindoffs in Doggie Market place almost 60 years ago. Could have done without the cameos from Grohl and Springsteen tho....

And in the end
the love you take
is equal to the love you make
I enjoyed it Hes bloody fit for an 80 year old. Im nearly 20 years younger and I wished I had his body now. Don't know why he brought Springsteen on. Would much rather have seen Noel come on. and I think Noel would have appreciated it.

His health and fitness is a great advert for a vegetarian diet

just got back to our camper after Macca. Have to say thought his 2004 set list was better. Too many new songs and not enough Beatles staples. Loved Live and Let Die where the crowd let themselves go a bit. Obv Grohl and Springsteen helped.

Didnt realise it was on an hours delay on BBC as Macca wouldnt give the right to broadcast live. Rather sent a spoiler to a mate who wasnt aware Bruce was appearing.
I wonder what his reasoning was for that. I didn't watch the gig as I've always thought him and the Beatles are massively overrated.

Wish I’d been there. Would be great to say I’d seen him. A lot of very young fans were enjoying it and will never forget the night they saw a Beatle.

My word there’s a lot of twaddle on this thread! ‘Strange’, ‘random’ set list? Self indulgent? Play some of his back catalogue?? 😂

He literally just played a set spanning 60 years of a back catalogue! 4 ‘newish’ songs out of nearly 40 in a 2.5hr set list! Over half were Beatles tracks!!!

It’s more or less the same set list that he’s played to sell out stadiums worldwide during his last couple of tours - so pretty tried and tested.

And the self indulgent guitar jam on The end???? I take it whoever wrote that is not familiar with the track on Abbey Road.

I remember for years and years the Beatles wouldn’t get back together and perform and then Lennon got murdered and that was it for ever.

Even Paul McCartney hasn’t done that many concerts that I can remember although I suppose he was around with Wings for a period.

I wonder if that is a regret for him now, that he could have shared his fantastic talent and songs a bit more.

His choice of set list was excellent.

He got to perform songs off Abbey Road he didn't get the chance to perform live with the Beatles.

The only thing missing was Linda's backing vocals

.
He was awful when I saw him ten years ago, can't believe people are still forking out to listen to him. Maybe he had a cold.
"Forking out to see him". Strange comment.

1. Most people bought tickets before he was announced as a performer

2. Massive assumption that people got a ticket for him and not the other 2000 odd acts.

Most newspapers givingbit 4 and 5 star reviews. For 80 thought his voice was excellent. If you want an example of a voice thats gone look no further than Rod Stewart and he's 3 years younger.

Put into perspective this guy's back catalogue of hits.

Disappointed that Mulligan’s Tyre wasn’t in there either, but the piece with John Lennon was special.

I wonder what John's take on it would have been had he survived.
Who had the better solo career? Would there have been an ex Beatle on on Friday night and one on Saturday in an alternate universe?

All live music is a good thing in my opinion. Anyone who has the heart to get up and do it should be applauded. You don't have to like it but try and appreciate it for what it is.

Fair enough, I'm not aware of how these large scale pop concrete are organised these days.

We used to wait to see who was performing before buying the tickets.

John Friday, Paul Saturday, George Sunday (with apologies to Mr. Starr)

Oh and I'd say that George had a very good and influential career after the Fab Four.
