McCartney at Glastonbury

Would have been nice to see Ringo join Paul for a couple of songs - probably the last chance for the two remaining Beatles to perform together on a big stage as a kind of farewell

Finally got round to watching McCartney's set in full last night as I deliberately waited until I could watch it from start to finish without interruptions. As seems to be the general consensus, I was a little disappointed with the first hour or so as he seemed to play too many of his more obscure number. What is noticeable however is that the Beatles songs stand out a country mile in terms of quality.

Once he got to Something though the show became a different beast entirely and I was blown away by it. Further to my comment about the quality of the work by Beatles, this is reinforced by the face that he only played 3 non Beatles songs (if you include the Quarrymen as the Beatles) after Something. Hey Jude in particular I think will go down as a classic Glastonbury moment long into the future.

Grohl and Springsteen were excellent, and pitched it just right as they were clearly delighted to be there and a bit in awe of Paul, despite all they have both achieved. The jam to close the show between the 5 guitarists was brilliant.

A particular highlight of mine, however, was I've Got a A Feeling. To see (sort of) and hear Lennon and McCartney together again is just beyond words. It clearly means so much to Paul to.

All in all one of the very best headline performances I've seen at the festival.
