He really is stinking the place out at the minute, rumour is he’s carrying an injury. Get him fixed because he’s been very poor.

I think they’re trying to get him close to the World Cup break where he can have surgery and recover ready for the re-start.

We have enough one dimensional centre midfielders so if he goes and has it done now we won’t really miss him.

Trouble is, when the whole team is playing poorly, then the bang average players stand out more, and you then notice just how poor they are!!
Crooks distribution yesterday was shocking, couldn't find a team mate most of the game, not acceptable for a professional so called championship midfielder.
I hope its just his injury that is holding him back, but a hernia doesn't stop you completing a pass over 5 yards.
I have always said in past posts, he cant trap a ball, cannot pass a ball, most of the time underpasses or over hits the ball. he is and always will be a Good/average Div 1 player.
He needs replacing and give him time to sort out his hernia and recover.

If Matt has a hernia then movement will be very painful.
We have no idea how bad it is.
I didn't hear anybody berating him last season when he was fundamental to us playing well by combining with Jones and Dijksteel and being top scorer.

The idiocy is in needing to play him despite being injured progressively badly - as hernias deteriorate.
Why have a squad so thin in midfield that you consider playing a bloke with a hernia?
Cheers Kieran, cheers Stevie.

Crooks may be playing poorly at present, but he is not a League One player, though he might be next season.

Crooks suffering playing in a side bereft of confidence and structure, as are quite a few. Hopefully a week on the training ground might show some fresh ideas and impetus for next week. Also it’s a home game, we are shocking away, isn’t our point at Stoke the only one? That’s shocking!

totally agree with those saying he should just get the op and get fixed - his below par performances are affecting results, better to play Mowatt or Hackney or McGree or anyone! if that doesnt suit the system then change the bleeding system, its hardy working wonders is it?!

Don’t be ridiculous - a league one capability player doesn’t hit double figures in the championship like he did last season. That was more than any of our strikers managed and more than any Boro midfielder in donkeys years. He is clearly injured and suffering loss of form because of it, but there aren’t many option to replace him with at the moment

Is it an injury or more an illness? His whole play used to be about zip and there is absolutely none of that now.

I see matt most weeks in another setting not as friends we just attend the same thing.
He has looked knackered when just walking around...looks like he has no energy ....young family ...covid...an injury....
I think he's spent
Loved him when he arrived but he is ananoymous now and needs dropping

Hernias dependant on location aren’t to bad which his mustn’t be if he’s continuing to play, his form might have just fell off a cliff. We need the old crooks back.

Probably my favourite player last season and seems a top bloke, but he's had a shocking start to this season. Not fair if he's playing with an injury!

I'd he's injured it needs fixing as his performances are under par
Put Hackney or Mowatt in and Crooks will be fit after the World Cup at the latest

If we're making/encouraging him play through a hernia, then it's ridiculous. Anyone with a single bit of sense should be getting him sorted ASAP. He is no use to anybody.

I don't know how epilepsy affects sports people, but I was told Crooks had an epileptic fit a few months back (when he was out with 'illness' for a game or two). That may be having an affect on him too?

He has the potential to be a big player for us, as he was last season, so I hate to be slating him, but he really has been rank this season.
