Match of the Day only 20 minutes long?

MotD went back a few decades to the days of Kenny Wolstenholme and David Coleman. Show highlights of the game, a few comments regarding league position etc, then next game. That's how it was, no autopsy, snail trails, lines drawn connecting the back four, no circles drawn around certain players.

So you're telling me the usual show is 20 minutes action and 60 minutes interviews and pundit waffle?
well they do a lot of replays during the game and they replay with the pundits and discuss it. Of course lots of replays of different angles when you haven't even got commentary would be confusing. I'd suspect that with the in game replays it's probably a bit longer than 20 mins, but 20mins of individual action

Innovation can be a good thing you know.

I didn't like it at all Funnily enough it's viewing figures went up by 500,000.

Unfortunately the BBC followed the example of the con men in chief, Sky. Rather than keeping it simple, showing the 'highlights' then moving on.

I used to persevere with Sky in order to catch the goals but the Football League Highlights show puts it across without too much waffle.

But not in this case motd needs less chat and more game time. Post match analysis is overblown particularly when you have thick as mince pundits like shearer and wright providing clichés instead of genuine insight
There seems to be a bit of correlation between people who say they like this paired down version of MOTD and people who are in favour of the whole 'stop the boats', 'send them back' rhetoric.

Just out of interest Glover, where do you happen to stand on the migration debate?

I am not in agreement with tory policy on immigration and on anything else for that matter in fact I have little time for starmer either hes a far too new labour and not nearly radical enough. As for Lineker I don't give a toss what he says on twitter. How that relates to shît overblown punditry on motd I don't know. Finally I don't even like the Premier league it's an awful dull watch and I hate the sprtswashing and ridiculous mooney involved now.

I think you're way off the mark.

I'd imagine those falling for presentation style football introduced by Sky are more likely to purchase the Daily Mail.

My god, do you like anything? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I know everything about football and my opinion is always right, so why should I listen to others? I don’t need pundits or commentators to offer their pesky insights. Why should I entertain other viewpoints especially from so called experts?

I like MOTD though, but mainly for the political discourse.

If you don’t like the premier league why do you watch MOTD?
