Match Day Public Transport Problems

Never mind National Express, the last Arriva bus to Darlington now leaves at 9.25PM midweek. Completely ruins it when there are no trains. Think I've missed two games that way.

Agreed mate. Speak to anyone about their match day experience and they will always tell you gettin to and from ground is the thing they hate.
Would you agree with me in having a different frame of mind for parking at an away game to a home game? ie It will most likely cost considerably more to park away but you accept it. Or you park 15 to 20 mins away from the ground because you only go there once. In the Premier League I don't remember ever leaving a parking place and getting on the road much before 6pm.You just accept these things.
What I find appalling is that people travelling any distance are being forced to drive as there are few or no alternatives.

National Express have changed their timetables. Looks like I might be able to get back to the north-west after a 3pm kick-off now, with a departure direct to Manchester shortly after 6pm.

Not sure if there's an easy way to see all departures from a station, but hopefully there are more options for others now too.

Return on a night match without a lift is out.
Only way is B&B overnight.
Coach for an afternoon kick-off can take 4.5 hours one way and is too infrequent / inconvenient times to get connections at Leeds.
Coach service back leaves Boro at 16:50hrs or Megabus service at 21:40.
Basic off-peak return fare by train is £102:30 without advance booking, etc, etc.
With discount it can be as little as £68:20.
Split tickets on specific trains has let me down so much in the past, with cancellations, late running, missed connections and arguments with train guards - I avoid like the plague.

Feel for all of you traveling from further afield getting back to Redcar(especially from away games) is bad enough. The areas transport system must be E-. Still when we get our metro/ tram/ light railway it will be fine.

From Hartlepool I could get to the midweek games by train but not back - last train is 21:30. Absolutely stupid. I use the train for weekend games only as a result.

Just ask the police if you can take a cell at the station and get the first morning train.
You may have all noticed that Yusuf has not attended any recent Boro home matches. He told me at Huddersfield that shifting the games meant he would not be able to get to the Riverside until Coventry. So, 8pm kick offs and lack of public transport has prevented our cheer leader from leading the chorus at the Riverside this past month.

I thought he was struggling to get the egg stains of his clobber after the 1st Bristol City goal and the little shower of objects came his way from the opposite stand.
