Marvin Johnson

We're now seeing the player we thought we'd signed 3 years ago.

He always puts in a performance - maybe not the most eye catching player we have but he's consistent and underrated IMHO.

He has won me over for sure... I was saying theres not a player there but there is, well done Marv
I think he has all the attributes to be top player but previously he just seemed to lack confidence. He has now got a manager who excels in giving players confidence. How many players has Warnock said are the best in the league. They may not be but it sure makes you feel good

Must admit: when he first arrived he appeared initially to be out of his depth and at times made basic mistakes and was labelled a "pub player".
He has shown just what confidence, experience and good management can do for a player.
We are all guilty of judging players with our mix of subjective emotions, loyalty to our club and expectations - but objectively, just like Anfernie and Bola we have three good players - who are improving in leaps and bounds every game.(y)
Perhaps our "recruitment team" arent as thick and inept as some of us inferred?;)

I was Marvin's biggest critic last season, I just felt like he had absolutely nothing to offer. His crossing was poor, he couldn't defend and couldn't take on a full back.

However, I'm quite happy to eat a huge humble pie this Season. He has been a revelation, but then again you could list off half a dozen players who in the middle of last season would not have been missed if they had been sold off.

Our finishing needs to improve though. We should have been 3-0 up at half time, and Tav needs to take his opportunity first time. We were lucky we managed to recycle the ball back out to Johnson.

He's hot and cold, that's why he's ideally a squad player.. Coulson blew his chance last week and Watmore was very poor last night.

Watmore was very poor last night.
Disagree about Watmore. Got an assist for the opener, might have scored if the normally generous Britt (sarcasm alert) had laid the ball off to him when he shot wide. Looked rusty but worked hard and you could see him doing (or trying to do) the right things. I don't think Coulson blotted his copybook too badly, but he is plainly behind Bola and Marvellous Marvin for the left side slots.

I bet Gibson is kicking himself not bringing him in a few years back. I am convinced comments on forums like this gets back to club and Mr Gibson. Neil used to get some stick on here, as did I defending him. Even one or two of our really good posters were hugely negative toward him, but I guess the false press image and tribal nature of football swayed folk. Now he is here, people seem much fairer in their assessments as they are seeing him up closer.
I was one of those Coluka and TBH you said he was ok. Didn't want him here but warmed to him and glad he's here . Happy to say I was wrong.
