Marvin Johnson and Britt Assombalonga

Exactly, Fletcher has also done nothing to justify his price but doesnt get anywhere near the same criticism. Akpom isnt even league one standard yet he escapes with far less criticism than Britt. I still think he would have been a good player at this level if we had used him correctly, he has just been unfortunate with the managers he has played under here, which has essentially ruined his career.
What Fletcher has done to justify a new contract is look like he gives a $hit, gets involved in general play, plays other into the game and works his socks off - not anything you could accuse Britt of doing. He tries to win a header, falls on his @rse, takes ages to get back up, misses a sitter then grins for the next 10 minutes. He's gash.

Warnock has said Johnson has triggered a clause for a further year here if Johnson agrees to it. Assombalonga not being offered anything and doesn’t look likely to be either. Both good news I’d say.
This got to be fantastic news for your lot surely? Doesn't look interested when on the pitch and how the hell he managed to get captain armband? Strange choice.

I think he'll be off to one of the relegated Premier League clubs Sheffield United or West Bromwich Albion. I'd be shocked if he end up at Newcastle if they get relegated. Maybe he could be at QPR?

I think Britt needs to go for Britt. Even if he was prepared to take a huge pay cut to bring his remuneration inline with his contribution, it would be a bad move for him.

He would be better moving somewhere else where his price tag and wages won't follow him and perhaps play under a manager, in a system, that better suites his skillset.

He comes across as a nice bloke and in the event, as seems likely, that he leaves I hope he does well wherever he goes. He hasn't mugged my granny nor assualted my wife. It didn't work out for him here, thats the top and bottom of it.

Think it will be interesting to see where Britt ends up. It's quite funny when we're on sky or get to listen to opposition radio commentary the way they talk about Britt as this deadly centre forward. Wonder if other clubs actually see him this way?

Be good to get Johnson signed up, good squad player and been unlucky to lose his place.
You would think we would have had interest in him last summer or this January if he actually was a deadly centre forward? I'm not counting the Bristol City saga as I think that was all mumbo jumbo anyways.

Fletcher brings Watmore into the game aswell. When Assombalonga played with Watmore he ignores him and goes for the most bizarre shots. He doesn’t have a football brain, Fletcher does.

Assombalonga = 4.28 Scott McDonald you can write off 3.5m where as 15m does leave a sour taste

Who was the better striker?

Marvin has turned things around last season and this , be pleased to see him here another season.
On the other hand,Britt can go, his one on one ability to finish is atrocious for a striker of his so called ability.

I'd say if he cost 2-4 mill yes, like Akpom. Akpom can play a little but doesn't look like scoring, Britt can't play but will score a few. They're similar ability levels. I don't think about the price tag after a standard Britt performance, I just think how anyone could think he is a championship footballer.
I think you can add on a few million to that for his longevity and the fact he has the Riverside record. He is more of a threat than Chuba.

It’s a shocker on the financial side, but if Britt cost only 5 -7m I think he’d be highly regarded by most of our fans. It’s just the crazy fee (and no doubt wages) that put fans on his back. Me personally I have no issues with Britt and think he has been a good servant who has never slagged the club off. Lazy at times but then most strikers can be at this level. It’s Monk and whoever was involved with spending the money who want chastising.
He prob wouldn't have come with a lesser wage .as. I've said before, with the price you think you're worth, comes an expectation

I'd like to see Johnson stay, even under woodgate he played well so has done it for a couple of seasons now.

Think his current drop off in form might have been due to covid, as pretty sure he was one of the players who had it pretty bad. Looked good against norwich though and looked good coming off the bench.

actually it should have been used for wingers and 10s. We should have let Bamford and Stuani fight for the number 9 shirt, and signed a couple of top creative players.
Stuani should definitely have been played more centrally than on the wing when he was here. Look at the numbers he's put up since leaving.

"Britt" has ruined his own career.

Massively disappointed in Britt. He has never shown any sort of passion or commitment to the club and every single match looks like he can't be bothered and is just running through the motions.

His performance the last few times he has played has been criminal. To call him club captain is an insult to every captain that went before him

Its shocking that he is gonna leave for nothing, but lets face it we are a better side without him.

If we were to.pull off the unlikely and get up via the play offs, then I don't think we've a single forward who would be good enough for the Premier league.
Tough decisions would need to be made.

Britt will never be that sort of player who will graft for 90 minutes, we knew this when we signed him so dont expect this to change now. Still a decent player for this level and significantly better than Akpom
