Enjoyable watch. Also rare, I'm not aware of many interviews with him since he retired.

Couple of noteworthy points, firstly the Woodgate reaction - the same as most other former team mates. The only man in the world who would have given him a managers job is the man who did!
Secondly his comments around the contract renewal situation. It seems he is not the only Big Aussie Southgate wanted to keep, unfortunately the powers that be handled this case poorly as well.

First point to make - the Woodgate that played in his first spell at Boro and the guy that came back could not have been more different through my eyes from attending things at Hurworth to the person that returned. He came back really focused. He was serious and matured.

You will not let anyone in anyway criticise the club at all will you. I mean it’s commendable but sometimes you go away and beyond just to make the club look faultless in every area.

Maybe. But still no reason for him to be given the boro job. Which is what he’s implying.
Regardless whether you think he is the right man for the job, its not exactly earth shattering that an assistant is promoted once the previous manager leaves. Hes done his badges, been involved in the coaching set up for a few years. Not exactly no reason for him not to have got it

I’m behind him and he’s been a dealt a poor hand. But he shouldn’t of been given the job at the time. Looking forward to see how we do next season. We can’t be any worse results wise you would think.

We're losing half the first team squad and high value players in last year of contract like Assombalonga need selling in a very deflated market. I'd say it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
