Marcus Rashford on twitter

And you can get help for addictions or if it comes down to it and you choose alcohol or cigarettes over feeding your children then they should be taken away from you.

Nobody is disputing that there is selfish parents who think more of themselves than their children. Those who neglect their children and abuse them.
The answer is not to deprive the children of food because you don't like their parents lifestyle.

Spending this morning publicly listing all the restaurants up and down the UK (has already tagged Middlesbrough) who are offering free meals to children during half term.

Showing this disgraceful cabal of a government what a decent human being with a bit of influence looks like. Only trouble is, having private businesses offering charity to our kids rather than the state will suit these evil ba5tards down to the ground.
He’s been brilliant

More power to him

Shocked at how many people have that sort of attitude. The governments media have done a brilliant job in focusing our anger on each other instead of the government. I could sit here for hours and list their failures over the last 8 years which has resulted in this, but lets focus our anger on the benefit claimants living a "life of luxury" on 100 quid a week instead.

But regardless of anything else, hundreds of thousands of kids are likely to go hungry next week. In one of the richest countries on the planet. That has to be wrong regardless of your opinions on the government/parents etc.
Yep divide and rule, the only way the 1% can hold on to power

If those parents are spending their money on fags then the government are directly getting 82% of that back in tax

As one of the largest economies on the planet it's hard to understand why homelessness, poverty and hunger are issues....but just look at California -- very liberal government but the poverty levels, homelessness are embarrassing-- you have to wonder what is the agenda of governments to have this as an issue in the 21st century?

So to end the day.....

I know little about Marcus Rashford away from this one issue and who he plays for, but I'll tell you one thing. Today he has brought the ordinary, otherwise unremarkable people of this country together rallying for one just cause in a way this government could only dream of. As the day panned out, small business owners, inspired by this young man's voice, took to social media and voiced their disgust, along with countless offers of help from all over the land. This in turn made local councils look up and many of them hastily convened meetings and joined in. The government have been exposed as the heartless, out of touch ne'er-do-wells they are and children from the very poorest households will now eat during half term, with no thanks to Johnson and his cabal. A truly great day's work and a shining example of how to use a little celebrity for the common good.

Absolutely blinding work, son.

This is a step in the same direction as food banks. The Tories stand back and marvel how "everyone is pulling together" and they have absolutely no care that they have created this Dickensian situation. Nor do they have any idea that, in an instant, they could stop this (in the short term).

On a bit of a tangent I am shocked at the amount of people who are commenting that its the parents fault they can't feed their kids and backing the Tories 100% in their stance. What kind of society has made these selfish, self righteous, ignorant greedy c.***s?
Well these chunts that are saying those kind of evil comments are the exact target audience that vote Tory - can’t stand the bastárds

Yeah, I've just had to sign myself out of a message board for a newspaper. Some of the comments were sickening and repugnant. Plenty of racists of course but supposedly ordinary working people supporting Johnson and calling out parents. Don't know what to say any more.

I always try and dessert myself from political issues but this topic honestly riles me with some of the responses. Either some people have forgot where they come from, or are oblivious to working class. For some reason there is this is notion that family's on benefits live the life of luxury (95%dont). Irrespective of that if a kids hungry. ITS NOT THEIR FAULT.

Kids in the north east are twice as likely to need free school meals than those in the south east. It's the highest are of child other in the country. Roll on leveling up.

There are people who genuinely believe poor people are getting what they deserve as they are lazy, I know this, my brother in law is one of them. He isn't evil he genuinely believes that if they wanted better they could have better. I argue with him all the time and it is pointless.

Further to my Facebook post the other night a lady has got in touch and herself and a friend are wanting to work with me to setup a local community food bank where people will have the option of collecting pre packed meals, seperate ingredients or hot meals.
We've decided on all 3 of those options as some people may not be able to afford utility rates as well as food so we are covering all bases.

Fantastic
But
Here we are in a developed, wealthy country and wonderful members of the public are having to set up local foodbanks.
It is both inspiring and sad

Selaine Saxilby - Tory MP for Devon has a very interesting take on those businesses helping starving kids.
Tweeted that she is delighted their businesses have recovered from Covid so well that are able to support local children who need food. She goes on to urge those businesses not to accept anymore UK government support as they clearly don’t need it.
She goes on to say that as an MP she doesn’t get a free lunch she takes a pack up.

Just shows how stupid the poor are. Need to think outside the box.
I bet they haven’t thought of providing a nice pack up for their kids.

Since 2010 the Conservatives have implemented massive ideological cuts to Local Authorities. It's disgraceful how LA's have to step in without any assistance from Government.

Ironically, it does show that LA's should be more actively informed in more issues. Central decision making is flawed.

Some people are beneath contempt.
