Managers at boro

Monk certainly wasn't doing a great job but in hindsight we weren't a million miles away. Had he been given more time, who knows how the season would have unfolded.
I suggest you read up more as you are missing the reason why we sacked him.

Wow that’s not how I remember it, I think people forget just how bad we were under Gareth. No no 1 goal keeper as it would upset the other so we had the two worst keepers in the division battling for the shirt. Both keepers went on to be no 2 nothing keepers in the prem.

It was horrendous.
Was that not more to do with recruitment? We messed Schwarzer around then missed out on the guy from Liverpool!

How many managers who’ve come with a decent enough reputation and some decent enough records but failed?

Strachan, kept Coventry in the prem for years and was ok at Celtic. Came here and was so bad it’s not even funny. Monk. Did pretty well for Leeds got them going and was saught after. Came here. Major failure.

Pullis. Ok not great Football but kept stoke competitive in the prem for years. Came here. Wasn’t great. His record here isn’t as bad as others. But still not good. Warnock. Took clubs up for fun on low budgets. Big standing in the game, comes here. Did well at first. Then poor. Now wilder, big stock. Most are buzzing. Now look at us.

There’s something fundamentally wrong at the core in my opinion. Why do decent managers come here and fail? None have been successful baring Karanka since mclaren. It’s a joke. Mowbray had nowt to work with. We were financially knackered at the time. But again ultimately failed and got the boot.

Woody no experience same as Southgate but both very poor. The worst decision Mr Gibson made was appointing Gareth Southgate. Great player. Was no where near ready. And we’ve never ever recovered.
Have to agree on Southgate. I've always said the same. Poor poor manager and he's showing it now. Great player though.

If we get rid of CW now would he be the first permanent appointed manager to never get a full season?

Edit We sacked Monk after 26 games.

Worth looking at the win ratios of each manager since McLaren

Aitor Karanka. 46.8%
Garry Monk. 46.2%

Neil Warnock. 38.7%
Chris Wilder. 40%

Look at the win ratio from the start of the season..

John Terry? Are they on crack?
😂 Seriously, considering the absolute hatred we have of all things Chelsea, it’s hard to imagine a manager who’d be less welcome here other than Alan Shearer, Joey Barton and, like, Eric Gates than John Terry.

Why?

I don’t get the logic of choosing selective stats to back up a false narrative.

I think that win ratio shows exactly how well every manager did with us here.

Karanka exceptional, Monk good results but with PL squad and off field issues did for him, Pulis did alright. Gareth (PL stats though), Strachan and Woody disastrous. Mowbray poor, Warnock worse, Wilder also poor and sinking.

That fits the stats and matches the eye test for me.

At least get your stats right!

Aitor Karanka. 46.8%
Garry Monk. 46.2%
Tony Pulis. 43.75%
Tony Mowbray 39.9%
Chris Wilder. 39.13%
Neil Warnock. 38.7%

No false narrative each manager was in a different position with different resources available to them. Tony Mowbray did more with less. Warnock will soon go ahead of Wilder because.. he built a team to win points with what he had.

I didn’t think strachan was a good appointment.
I’d always thought he was a poor manager

Monk,
Pulis
Warnock
Wilder

They have all had decent reputations before rocking up here
