Man City charged with multiple breaches of FFP

Without knowing the facts, I would have thought City would have a decent chance of defending themselves. If it was a very strong case, it shouldn't take 4 years to collate all the evidence and bring charges. Can you imagine something like that happening in any other sphere - it's not like this has only just happened. The football leaks and UEFA action was a few years ago. City obviously haven't co-operated, which maybe makes it trickier to check everything out. I wonder if they had, if the charges would have been brought. However, as mentioned above, I'm sure their lawyers will argue their case very vigorously.
As mentioned above, I wonder if this has more to do with the premier league trying to show they are tough regulators and will take action when wrongdoing occurs, to try and prevent an independent regulator (which football needs), which would have significant powers and dilute the power of the premier league, including potentially the way monies are distributed?
All of the above is purely conjecture and my thoughts!

A few people in the media have also had similar thoughts re the independent regulator and the PL desperately trying to show the world that they are in control and don't need a separate body to sort the financial irregularities.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool. They're all at it, of course they are.
City might get a small points reduction...... eventually after its cost millions in the courts.
If it was us we'd get instant relegation.
Just how it is. Stinks to high heaven.

I think there will be action here. This has taken years and will be cast iron I would expect. With the UEFA ban already in the wings I see trouble ahead.

Yesterday match was weird - team selection and tactics odd. I wonder if Pep will walk away now the fun times might be over.
He’s 9/2 to go next in the “next PL manager to leave” market. He’s never ever been that short I’m pretty sure.

I think we all know that all the clubs with megabucks owners are allowed to do whatever because the Premier League want to own the world game. I don’t think we’ll see to much in the way of points deductions but I think we’ll see perhaps another transfer embargo.

Yes that why 100 beaches have been brought to a team with some of the worlds best players

How on earth have Everton spent that much and are still crap??
because spending money does not bring success, you need your board and management team to be able to manage that money, otherwise other clubs, your own manager and agents are going to take advantage of you being green to the football owners club.

and if the management can't handle the big name players then that will often mean the team just does not perform.
and anyone who is only there for the money will never give 2 ***** about the club when times are hard and are usually the first to check out and stop performing when fans get on their back if your team gets dragged down the league

look at man utd, only this season are they starting to have a manager who knows how to deal with big name players, previously they suffered by having managers who the players will of thought they were much bigger deals than the management and were not interested in stopping their bad habits and improving their performance and training levels which was clearly affecting the team on the pitch, looked like lots of dead weight they were carrying but they were spending more than others.

city on the other hand look to manage and spend it right mostly. players respect and look up to pep and the board backs him in any way they possibly can and it converts on the pitch.

Is there any chance Newcastle have broken any rules
no they had alot of spare budget in their FFP since ashley paid all his transfers up front along with staying well under his FFP limits, which set them up for their recent big cash spends to allow them to stay in ffp too.

the Newcastle fans may not of liked him there, but since he put the club up for sale he ran the finances really well to make them an attractive buy, and paying transfers off up front meant they were not taking on all the extra debt that you would get with any other premier league clubs paying transfers off on instalments, and they also would benefit from the sales still being paid for players on instalments too. So they may give him zero credit but this spending spree would be against the rules if he never ran the club this way, and they may well of not got bought without him reducing the clubs debts and out goings too.

The super league would replace the champions league. They would still clean up in the Premier as well. The riches of the super league would ensure they had enough money to compete in both.
That wasn't the proposal initially. The proposal was to form a new league where the clubs left their current leagues.

I thought that they wanted to join the European Super League - invite only - play midweek then play the domestic fixtures at the weekend (and talk/rumour of reducing the number of clubs in the PL because the top teams will play too many games.......)?

either way if they did stay in the prem it would be a 2nd team which would be a joke

I think they’ll get kicked out tbh, too many breaches and without being pushed into lower division it’s not worth bothering. 3 automatic spots available for championship clubs…..

How have a club with Evertons turnover, got away with spending £500 million on transfer fees?
Up until 3 years ago their finances were sound, they had reserves.
Since then they have spent a fortune and offset it by massive equity injection. From a business perspective they are not in awful shape, but the last 3 seasons are simply unsustainable.
From an FFP perspective, I simply can't get my mind round how they are not in hot water as the full equity that has been injected simply is not allowable in the calculation even in the PL.

The whole thing is rancid.
Villa and Fulham the same. Massive equity injections meaning the business is ok, but they are cheating in what they spend...and lose.

Not a chance. Too big and too powerful
