Maggie Thatcher milk snatcher

I seem to remember, as one of the first cohort of students at Stockton Sixth Form College, that Thatcher officially opened the college in 1973. There was a rumour that they planted a pile of trees at great expense to welcome the old witch, and then ripped them out again as soon as she buggered off. It was a long time ago though, and the memory is not what it was, so that could be absolute nonsense.

Turfed our by her own party in the end - her policies ripped communities apart in the north, some have never fully recovered

And birds would peck through the milk tops. In winter there was sometimes ice inside too.
Still, as much as we might have gagged at it, to snatch the milk away from bairns was an horrendous act.

Thatcher withdrew milk for children from schools in 1971. About fifty years ago.

So when did Labour restore school milk, can anyone remember?

As soon as our teacher said she needed two big strong lads to carry the crates from the yard into the corridor, she had a dozen volunteers.
We were pushovers in those days.
I'm talking about you Miss Tevlin.
