LUTON PRIORITY POINTS

We don't need a specific priority points system. A season ticket based system is sufficient.

1. Gold card holders first. 10 years with a season ticket gets you a gold card.
2. Chairmans drink. 5 years with a season ticket gets you a chairmans drink.
3. Season ticket holders up to 5 years.
4 Boro Pride card holders. £25-£50 a season. Gets you a few quid off match days prices.
5. General sale.

This prevents a closed shop and gives opportunity to all.
Playing devils advocate - what if I go match by match and have got to a dozen games in the season; should I have the same priority as someone with a boro pride card who went to one game?

A Boro Pride card holder will also have invested £50 up front in the club. If the person going multiple times a season hasn't bought a Boro Pride card knowing that, then they've only got themselves to blame, surely?

I suppose if you are paying up front to get a priority over someone who hasn’t, then yes. As both have the rules laid out at the start of the season

Same as paying for priority by buying album. Someone could have been too all the gigs but if they didn’t buy the album the don’t get priority

Was is not fair a people having a status that others can not achieve

They could have achieved it but they chose not to when it was officially offered? Would it be fair to take it away from those who continue to purchase it? Not in my book.

Someone who was a season ticket holder from 1997 can’t get a status of someone from 1995.

How is that fair

It’s to show that you’ve been there from the start of the riverside and continue to show loyalty throughout. It’s just unfortunate that you’d be 2 years out such is life.

You want to get rid of all loyalty privileges yet I highly doubt you’d get to more than a few games a season which isn’t your fault but I don’t understand why you’d want to take away any loyalty benefits.
Because whether I use it or not, whatever system is used should be fair. I was a season ticket holder from 1967 to 2006 so I believe I have the right to comment

I don't want to "take away" loyalty benefits, I want the system to be opened up so loyalty benefits are available to everyone ....... including my son who like many others is currently excluded through no fault of his own - he can't get a gold card, he can't get a Chairman's drink and he can't get an away season ticket

'such is life' doesn't wash though.

MFC could easily open it up and change it to something like 'Anyone with 25 years+ will qualify for Gold Card Status'.

The current scheme is about as fair as can be except for 2 major flaws:
1) Gold Card Status & Chairman's Drink Status should be open for everyone to qualify for
2) Away season tickets should be made available to everyone or no-one (at the very start of each season).

The above 2 points are closed shops, which quite frankly isn't fair on any level.

Did I read in the last set of MFC minutes that they are looking into number 1)?

I'm not even a purist on this and accept the general spirit of the points system. I just don't think jumping on someone checking if anyone could help them out with a ticket for the game needs lambasting as though they've committed some kind of crime. Obviously by those who don't have an issue getting tickets.

Should let people crack on really and if someone gets to enjoy the rare big game then be happy for them, they've got less chance than most of being able to.

You say you don’t go anymore anyway so why does it matter? It’s a perk of being at the riverside opening as a season ticket holder.
That’s the point it’s not fair is it. We’ll have many fans who were born post 1995 who live a breathe Middlesbrough more then gold card holders

Just because I don’t go anymore doesn’t mean can’t advocate fairness for others

My point is though the loudest people against it on this thread, yourself and Malaguena don’t even go yet season card holders tend not to care too much, the bottom line is if you want to go to the big games then start going to the others as well.

The club may decide to reintroduce the free drink again and start a period to become a gold card holder but until then who really cares?

I would love the opportunity to become an away ST holder but again that’s just life that I’ve missed out and I applaud those that have them and continue to go every single week and I hold no bitterness that they get to have one, at the end of the day they deserve it.

I was at Sunderland, I'll be at Huddersfield and I have the Chairman's drink points advantage.

I don't agree with the current system of unattainable points privileges.

I have no issue with the likes of Rob having away season tickets, or the concept of one, they pay their money and they put the miles in, but they've not been available for purchase in well over a decade and I'm not a fan of that.

I don't agree that it's just life either, the club can easily address it.

I’ll be joining you but that’s what the club wants to do to reward loyalty. Maybe they will look at it, maybe not.

Imagine the meltdown on here every away match if Boro decided to offer away season tickets and lots of people bought them! Most matches go to general sale anyway yet people still moan. Imagine though there was say 500-1000 away ST holders before the points system kicked in. Hell on.

In reality I’d guess there was under 10 away season ticket holders
