Luton away

If the seats are actually numbered then I just can't work out why they would have unallocated seating?

Must just cause more problems for stewards, more potential for a catastrophic accident with people stood on the stairs.

I was never going to this game anyway but that policy would put me right off.

Just been to a Teams meeting.
We will get only 1000 tickets - unreserved seating. That means 10 % less than reserved seat capacity.
I said only problems last year were people struggling to find empty seats. I asked if they could discuss at Luton if the tickets could bd reserved. It would give us another 100 or so and be no pronlems finding a seat. Unreserved seems to be their policy.
You need a home counties postcode and buying history to get in home ends. Obviously Luton fans will be just as eager as us to attend.
I asked aftrer game if blocking off streets around our cosches to please communicate with us.
But last year there weren't real problems. No reason to think it will be any different this time.
Rob, you mention that unreserved seating is their policy, have MFC asked why? As a few posters have pointed out it doesn't make sense.

I alerted the message board about this a few months back when I heard reports back from another visitor club through FSA. It was unreserved for us last season, I can't recall the time before that under Jonathan Woodgate but again I think it may have been. Am not sure why they do this but it is more usual when there are lower ticket sales for clubs to say, sit where you want. I have written to the Boro ticket office this morning to say I voiced my concerns to the police and Safety Officers of Luton and Middlesbrough yesterday in the meeting. I will see some Middlesbrough commercial people this evening so I will be able to chat to them about it but I rather got the impression it is Luton's policy and they would be sticking by it.
They have been told to expect a Boro sell out, even though it is a Monday night. So, they do know what to expect.
I should say that the end was full last year and the time before. If people are concerned get to the ground as early as you can but there weren't any real incidents and people did manage to find places to watch the match safely. We would rather it wasn't unreserved - it would also mean another 100 tickets. But no one felt in any danger last year and there were no major problems.

What's the benefit of unreserved seating?
I can only think of the obvious disadvantages.
Unreserved seating is the way it’s going to have to go for a lot of games, and that’s down to points system.

I’ve hardly ever had any issues with people being in my allocated seat, standing in aisles and cramming into rows until they brought the points system in.

If for example the threshold is 200 and 4 people buy tickets and 1 or 2 have had to wait until the 180 window, they’re not going to want to stand apart. It wouldn’t bother me personally but that’s what’s happening, people in different points windows in different areas are standing together and it’s causing chaos. There have been several away games this season where I’ve thought it was genuinely unsafe. Someone nearly broke their leg after McGree’s goal at Blackburn.

Unreserved seating people aren’t looking for a specific seat, they just go and stand wherever they want.

Happened at Cardiff where the seats we reserved were shut off and stewards just told us to go where we wanted, zero issues. Same at Blackpool last season.
