Liverpool will think about what Ben Doak wants. He’ll be at Boro until the end of the season. I have no doubt about that.

I think you're right, the primary factor will be his development and currently he's in the perfect place.

The financial aspect won't be an issue currently and I'd be surprised if he went to a lower PL club, where he won't get anywhere near as much of the ball. I'm actually not sure he's ready for the PL yet.
 
Ref second half of the season - Liverpool must be thinking where will he develop best, opposed to getting £10k a week more in wages. Playing at the Boro could easy add £5m to his value as it did with Archer and Ramsey.

Unless say a Premier League relegation zone offer to start him every game and even if he starts, how much of the ball will he see when say Ipswich or Soton play Chelsea etc

agreed - you would think his best development would come from a full season with us and then maybve a season on loan in the prem next

Fry Back, RVDB back in full training, Engel back intermittent training.. Lenihan due back in the new year.. Morris a few weeks away.. sounds like that will be a bit further still.

Hamilton with the bug that is going round so he could be back soon.. not away kit soon.. like next couple of games.

Smith and Bangura continue on their road to recovery.. I heard Carrick was hopeful that Bangura would have some part to play in this season. Sounds a bit ominous for Smith still.

Marcus Forss is a bit gutting.. hopefully he can get back on the swing of things.. when things are right he’s immense!

Did Carrick say it was good when you have two good players to choose from in one position.. but the problem comes when you have two bad players? Any position in particular there Michael? Have we had issues like that previously?

I don't think he did, not that I noticed, anyway. I had a quick scan back through the interview (as released on the MFC app) and I didn't hear him saying that.

Engel will play if he is fit and Borges is unavailable. We don;t have another fit LB. I think he would avoid playing Ayling at LB unless we really had no other option. But I do think Engel will move on either in January or the Summer.

I doubt Smith will play for us again.

Lenihan still has 18 months on his contract. If he gets back fit he'll get back involved. He's a good player. Edmondson isn't our player and there's a good chance he's not with us next season.

Isn't Edmundson out of contract once his loan with us finishes? Ayling repeat seems a decent possibility.

Hadn't realised that but just checked and yes it is so I guess that make the permanent move more likely but even still, that doesn't really signal the end for Lenihan.

We would likely want 5 senior CBs going into 25/26 given the injury records over the last couple of seasons.

Fry - June 26
Lenihan - June 26
Clarke - June 26
VDB - June 27

VDB is the most likely to be sold if we weren't promoted. I think the other 3 will see their contracts out now

Depends what league we are in.

Clarke and Lenihan are good, but I would want a serious upgrade if we somehow made it into the Prem.

Engel isnt good enough i would rather play a one legged ayling at left back. Engels time at the club should be gone hes simply not got the quality to make it

Yeah, Engel, Hoppe and Silvera are the only ones that haven't turned out to be good enough. At least it's not down to attitude as its been with many of our overpriced flops in the past which highlights our scouting has a significant focus on personality / fitting in and team spirit.
