Lucky Derby

Yes and like I said our only limitation is that idiotic policy
Oh, you mean managers and coaches in that? I doubt that's a policy to be fair, I'd say its more "playing the hand we're dealt".

Most manager recruitment is from people in between clubs, those who have left or been sacked etc.

We can only recruit managers who are available/ who applies.

But see the location/ funding points above and some assumptions below on targeting people who are already in work:
1: You're assuming we could poach some manager, from a club where he's probably better paid, how?
2: You're assuming we could poach some manager, from a bigger club, how?
3: You're assuming we could poach some manager, with a larger transfer kitty, how?
4: You're assuming we could poach some manager, who would come to a club where it's harder to recruit players, how?
5: You're assuming we could poach some manager, who is probably in demand, and who would surely have other options in perceived better locations?

For the last decade, we've been paying some of the lowest managerial salaries in the divisions we've been in, probably due to not having much choice (pay less for a lower standard), or the managers we get don't have much experience (pay less, as not proven), these are likely limited by our budget, and our location.

No it’s a policy Gibson has been quite open about it he will not take another clubs manager.

As for the hand were dealt how cheap do you think pullis and Warnock were/are.

it’s madness to me but there you go. So that limitation of novices and veterans/has beans is entirely self inflicted.

so we have no way of knowing how attractive a club to manage we’d be as we never offer it. Although Robbo came from man as did Steve McLaren and Aitor came from Real Madrid so maybe more than you seem to think.

You can only take who wants to come, and who is let go by the club.

The average manager in the Champo is on around £1m a year, I imagine Pulis and Warnock were/ are not on that. Warnock wasn't even getting paid after we sacked Woody, they never even discussed wages before he came, apparently. Not saying that's the case now, mind.
AK was on less than 500k after he got us promoted when we were in the premiership. Woodgate may have been on even less.
Someone might work for a London club for £1m, but to get them here, they might want £1.5m, which we probably don't have, which is my point. We will have to pay more than others, for the same thing.

Robbo, came when we were comparatively rich, no doubt costing a fortune (for his first manager job), and we attracted players with massive wages, which we can no longer do, not even in the premiership. We were still rich(ish) when we had McLaren (again, first manager job), but things have changed a lot over the last 10-25 years. Southgate, first manager job. AK, again, first manager job.

Gibbo is now one of the least wealthy owners in the Champo, in the least desirable location, when he was once one of the wealthiest in the Prem. He's also blown a load of his wealth keeping us going since.

My guess is it is nowhere near as easy as you think.

Again no that’s not correct
It is correct, if a manager is under contract you can't just take them, not without probably paying the club a large release fee, or the manager paying up his contract. He's not a digger driver or a cash in hand barman, you can't just walk up to him in the street and say, you want to come with us, without any repercussions.

We can only recruit a manager who applies (or think of it like, who wants to come). We can't just ring Jurgen Klopp, tell him to pack his bags, and be at training at 10am the next day, and then tell Liverpool we've cancelled their contract, and they won't be paid a penny.

You lot are so obsessed. Lol.
The irony of that comment coming from a Derby fan on this Board isn't lost (I was on Derby's message board till I got banned so I can hardly speak 😂)

The obsession seems to be the other way around when you look at Derby message boards.

Good to see they may have a buyer to secure the clubs future. They have a chance of staying up with just the -12 points but if the additional deduction is added then I think they will be down. Still better than no Club though.

@Anterimus, is there another hearing to talk about deducting more points?

The -12 (for entering administration) has been appealed which I would be surprised if they succeed with.

They are also due a points deduction for breaching FFP. Maximum penalty is -30 but under EFL rules, the EFL and club negotiate the penalty to save it being dragged out with appeals.

Before Mel Morris binned the club off, it was believed the 2 parties had agreed to another 12 point deduction. 9 this season and 3 next.

This process wasn't completed when he put the club into administration so the EFL now have to reach agreement with the administrators.

Alongside this, there is a further 3 point deduction Should the club fail to pay the player wages at any point this season.

What a state Mel Morris left that club in and most Derby fans couldn't see it coming and even thought he was clever.

Cheers for that, what a mess, glad for the club & fans they've been saved, they're tge obes who always suffer

Bigger city and catchment, more success and a more famous name historically, in a position to be bought for pennies in the pound possibly?

I don't see why anyone would risk £50 million on them when you could probably get them for a song at the end of the season if there is another deduction or relegation.
Middlesbrough is bigger than Derby. If you're talking catchment add in Stockton and parts of North Yorkshire.

I assume you are only comparing the Town of Middlesbrough with Derby itself?

But obviously there's the surrounding areas which play a part, we have pools and Darlo on our doorstep too.
