Loving 'bargain basement' Boro....

Just looking at the squad are we are slowly molding into a 'full on Warnock' side. He's always played with wingers and usually a big lad up top (probably the only thing we are missing).

The most enjoyable part is we are doing it 'old school' on a bit of a budget.

Lang / Hall / Watmore (free)
Morsy and Fisher cost next to nothing
Bolasie / Bettinelli / Kebano loans

I'm pretty sure a lot of this is due to covid and these strange times. That said I'm sure the gaffer has been wheeler / dealing over the past month. It's refreshing not throwing money and big contracts at players.

I would say looking at most champo clubs we've had a great window. Also hats off once again to Steve Gibson. He's still bank rolling us despite losing a losing a fortune👏

I bet anyone, that Neil turns this group of free or cheap, experienced, accomplished, ex - prem, ex lower division, promoted and relegated bunch of misfits into a hugely successful outfit: far more entertaining and exciting than anything in recent seasons - scoring more goals and sustaining a real challenge to get back into the top flight.

You have to admire the crafty, wise old owl [blade] - he sets out to show the big kids what can be done, without chucking brass at rubbish and emptying the cash bucket. So far I think hes done a crackin job. We move forward and see what happens in the next stage of the Warnock Project! (y)

He's signed up experienced players, who have been around a bit. I have high hopes. Some of them might not be match fit, so may take a while to get up to speed which is the only real concern.

Jordan Archer - Free - Dejan Stojanovic out on loan
Darnel Fisher - £300k - Nathan Wood out on loan
Mendez Laing - Free - Patrick Roberts off to Derby
Yannick Bolasie - Loan - Marcus Browne injured
Neeskens Kebano - Loan - Lewis Wing out on loan

Sam Folarin stays as double cover for Laing & Spence
Hayden Hackney ready to make the numbers in midfield with Tavernier currently out
Hayden Coulson left wing cover with Fletcher still coming back.

Easily our best transfer window in 10/15 years.. can't even remember!!

If they don't work out... fine. We've spent multiples of those fees and wages on single players in the past who added nothing to the team.

If they do work out, we could finally be one of these clubs we point fingers at when they overtake us despite our having spent tens of millions on what we thought were cast iron certainties to help us progress.

Nice that the club seem to be run more professionally and efficiently, is that Warnock's influence?
Certainly getting the players he wants who would have been out of contract signed up.
Only Fletcher and Johnson to go really.
Very astute man our Manager, should have had him years ago, after Aitor

Always prefer following battling Boro to big spending Boro.

Glad I've had the chance to compare, but I prefer us to be the street fighting underdogs to the fat cats.

Sam Folarin, has a long way to go for me to be considered standing in for anyone
The few cameo games I've seen didn't give me the impression he has what it takes just yet

Lots of examples of clubs doing well with 'low cost ' squads, even making the premiership. For these teams it's more about hard work, good tactics and team spirit than individual stars. I'm liking the look of us now, however we have a few loans that need permenant replacements eventually . Looking forward to the rest of the season
