You are everything linguists and true lovers of language despise. Also, since we’re being picky, you are not “Lord Digby Jones”, you are Digby, Lord Jones. There’s a world of difference. But however you’re titled, you disgrace the upper house with your misplaced snobbery

Oof.

Even better if you read it in your head in his best Duke Of Wellington voice from Blackadder...

At what point are we supposed to give a shiney shi t about what Fat Lord moneybags-entitled thinks. This is not the 1800s any more - so what he says carrys not more importance than anyone else on this planet.

Just shows how out of touch he is with reality.
I mean, has has he actually set foot outside of the Houses of Parliament and listened to a typical cockney 'youngster' with a Jamaican Yardie accent.

Good put-down by Stephen Fry and quite right too. However, I'm not sure about the phrase "misplaced snobbery". Is snobbery ever not misplaced?

I couldn't care less about Jones, the Lords or Fry, but I also find that Patel and Scott using no g is an irritating affectation.
Gavin Williamson has a different irritating trait, on top of all his more important failings as perhaps he worst Education Secretary in living memory.

The irony that in his follow up reply he used the term "period" rather than "full stop". Someone should tell him he's not even writing in the correct version of English. What a tool.
