Looking for a Spotting Scope for Wildlife and Birdwatching

I am looking for a spotting scope about 60-80mm for wildlife and birdwatching.

Looking for something half decent like Opticron of maybe something older like a Leica APO Televid or something similar. I am open to other options or advice.

I have looked on the usual places like eBay, MPB and LCE, and there are a few options i am interested in, but i am wondering if anyone local has anything for sale so i can try it out before i buy it.

I will also need a tripod if you have anything. Even if you haven't got a scope for sale i would still be interested if you have a tripod as i am going to need one anyway.

According to their website they are in Go Outdoors in York.

They mainly do Celestron and Vanguard which are two brands i am not interested in.

Ideally i would like to find a private sale locally, you get much better value that way, you don't have dealers adding their margins on and you can try before you buy.
 
There is a place in Northallerton - can't remember what it is called. On the High Street next to the roundabout as you enter Northallerton from Darlo.

It is called Grovers, i bought my binoculars from there.

I will be taking a trip down there soon, the owner is a bit of a grumpy git though, so i can't say i am looking forward to it. He always looks at you as if he doesn't like you, and everything seems such an effort like he's too busy to bother with you. I have been putting off going, and the price of his second hand equipment in extortionate.

This place has a good range, they do have a shop where you can try the equipment out but it's in North Norfolk....
Might be an excuse for a weekend away

Really missed your sense of humour whilst you have been in hiding.
