I see South Shields and scarborough are in playoff action on tuesday (northern premier league premier) and could possibly face each other for a place in National League North to play the likes of Darlo, York and Spenny

Meanwhile 1 step below in northern premier league east Marske, Stockton and Shildon are joined by Cleethorpes in the 4 way battle for promotion.

Good luck especially to Scarborough who like Darlo have pretty much had to start again after falling out the football league

Scarborough v Matlock. Both league games finished 0-0 so it could be extra time and penalties.
Should be around 2000 there, looking forward to it, been 5 or 6 times this season.
Then its back to nervously watching the Cardiff game on Wednesday.

Not as nervous about the cardiff game we should have beaten Hull and/or Hudds and be in a far more comfortable position but we didnt.

Wouldnt be the first time Cardiff have finished our season (FA Cup Quarter Final)

South Shields managed by a former premier league striker who finished top scorer in Europe.
Scarborough managed by a former Boro player and Champions League winner - well he got a medal!
Thats got to be a first at this level to have 2 managers who have played in the top tier?

Won't Scarborough be hindered with progression up the leagues because of their ground? 4G pitch, and not near enough room to expand the stadium any further due to a big ass hill on one side of the pitch and the leisure centre behind on of the goals which incorporates a seated stand, hospitality room and changing rooms?

Marske play Shildon in their first playoff game on Tuesday, the winners to face either Stockton or Cleethorpes. Although Marske have already been presented with the runners up trophy which is bizarre but management of the league is bonkers anyways.

You mean Olivers Mount? No a new stand has already gone up on that side and theres still room behind it.
Plenty of room at the shed end and the main stand can be extended.
The only part that cant be extended is the end that backs on to the swimming pool.
That said the council own the ground.

Better facilites than what they had at Brid Town. To be fair they still attracted near 4 figure crowds despite being in the northern Counties Eastern League and home games incurring a near 40 mile round trip for a number of seasons (when i lived in Brid)

Been to a few South Shields games this season. Very ambitious chairman but the common consensus is they went full time too soon and lost a load of very good part time lads who understandably couldn’t give up their careers.

Good chance of going up still as the two playoff games are at home (if they beat Warrington tomorrow)

South Shields have missed out already on two chances for promotion with COVID in effect nullifying their last 2 seasons

Not sure how close the ground is to National League standards as I think it only holds a similar amount as Scarborough

Just opened a large new stand. Think capacity is about 3.5k.

Biggest kicker was back in 2020, 12 points clear with not many games left and the season was cancelled.

Yeah forgot about the council owned aspect of it.

On the subject of South Shields, didn't the owner buy a load of the new build homes near the ground to rent out to prospective new full time signings and also youth players?

Yep he did. Difficulty they've had is attracting decent full time players whilst in the NPL. A number of the part time lads who left were better than the full time players who came in (mainly young lads from higher leagues). They missed out on automatic promotion to Buxton but really shouldn't have this season as Buxton weren't amazing.

Big game vs Warrington tonight.

I thought that was the case, cheers for confirming. Marske have had a couple of lads on loan from Darlo, Spennymoor and Gateshead this season. A couple of which have signed on permanently. There's talent all over in non league but as you say, full time in non league is a risky business to find the right player.

Well as expected it was a tight game and sheilds losing on penalties went down well as they'd done the double this season. Warrington at home Monday 3pm, , Scarborough beat them 2-0 home and away ( oh god its Norwich) 2676 there tonight.
