Liverpool and Man Utd in secret

Having read into it more, the proposal is to replace the Champions League not exit the Premier League.

This would make elite European competition a closed shop.

This would devalue the Premier League as it would mean there's no prize of elite european competition. As i said before, this gives the big boys more leverage with the premier league.

The quicker they get lost the better.
Another reason I love the likes of Burnley, Sheff Utd, Boro & Norwich of this world over those greed is good clubs, can't abide any of them
The only time I take notice of the fake CL is when they are knocked out one at a time 👍

TBH I bet if you asked the ardent fans of those clubs they won't want it either, but they're happy for their clubs to become greedier each season so not really fussed for them either

Given the number of games they'd have to play in both this competition AND the PL surely the only way to do that would be with, effectively, two teams/squads.

One to play in the Euro competition and one to play in the PL. Otherwise it's just too many games for a normal squad for the constant 2 game a week schedule.

You may, in effect, end up with Man U's etc. B teams playing in the PL. Devaluing it further still.

If they want to go, they can't have it both ways.

Sooner the better for me.

Agree with above. It seems incompatible with remaining in the domestic leagues. They will be looking at 60/70 games a year.

I thought football could not get any more greedy - but I was wrong.
No limits for those clubs, as the song from the Moody Blues goes, 'Go Now'

According to people close to the latest plans, the European Premier League would not be a breakaway in the sense of ending clubs' involvement in their domestic leagues.

Will enough people pay to watch yet more football to pay for this? How much football is too much? Would fans want to pay to watch over 70 games per season, assuming that the above part of the article is correct? Where is the saturation point?
I don't watch European have at all now. I watch more Championship games than Premier League as it is of more interest to the Boro.

I have sat here with a smile on my face reading all of this and cannot help thinking we are all to blame for this. We have killed the game we love.

You cannot just blame the clubs linked with the breakaway league, the whole of football is at fault and I count football supporters in this. We have all clamoured for that international striker, midfielder, defender, etc. to be signed by our team and search out every news bulletin on who we have signed on transfer deadline day. We all insist on our team producing overnight glory and there is a stewards inquiry if we are not competing for promotion, etc. Managers come and go when the latter is not reached, and then it all starts again.

Sky Sports planted this mentality into our brains and we all bought into the PL is the be all and end all of life. How many of our clubs are on the brink of bankruptcy trying to reach the promise land.

Let them go and play in this super league, but don't buy into it or watch it. That is what will kill it.

Good point but not ALL football supporters are to blame and if you consider the insidious nature of how the PL is promoted, advertised, glorified then it's really easy to see how people get sucked into it all.

I don't think it's fair to apportion too much blame to the fans. They didn't create they hype after all.

It's obvious this is an American tempt to introduce the "locked door" franchise scenario they have for NFL, NBA etc. Invite only, no relegation, money kept within the league. Wouldn't surprise me if they propose to have practice squad type teams in the domestic leagues. This has been on the cards for years, and could be the re-making of the game in many countries where the richest dominate.
