Listening to Marillion

Just had a re-listen to Forgotten Sons, bit of a time capsule feeling as I probs haven’t heard it for 35 years. I was right in thinking not quite my cup of tea now, come across as an 80s version of Muse if you like, operatic feel to it and keyboardy rock. Excellent live band though, superb showmen

Do you remember?
Chalk hearts melting on a playground wall
Do you remember?
Dawn escapes from moon washed college halls
Do you remember?
The cherry blossom in the market square
Do you remember?
I thought it was confetti in our hair
By the way, didn't I break your heart?
Please excuse me, I never meant to break your heart
So sorry, I never meant to break your heart
But you broke mine
Kayleigh, is it too late to say I'm sorry?
And, Kayleigh, could we get it together again?
I just can't go on pretending
That it came to a natural end
Kayleigh, oh I never thought I'd miss you
And, Kayleigh, I thought that we'd always be friends
We said our love would last forever
So how did it come to this bitter end?

👍👍👍👍
Hope this link works, quite a sad story.

Like Lavender too

Never got into them in “1980 whatever”despite my mate pleading with me to go and see them....we were well into Genesis at the time and he said you should see this....Naha!

Fast forward 20 years I get Script CD and it blows me away.....and all the Fish stuff

How wrong can you be?

I got to see all of the bands I loved during the 80s except The Jam (bit young to be allowed) as well as Marillion and have regretted it ever since too. Market Square Heroes is still in my top 10 of favourite songs

During the fist lock down I dusted off my TT and played a lot of old vinyl. I played Misplaced Childhood virtually every day. I'd forgotten just how good it was/is.
It's got to be said, there's something magical about rediscovering old classics that you'd somehow stopped listening to. It happened to me with Misplaced Childhood a few years ago, hadn't listened to it in a long, long time and just almost randomly put it on one day; was blown away by how good it still was.
