Howson, Saville and Morsy, cost a fraction of the amount, and shows more desire and hunger than the lot of them. Terrible decision to let him go out and keep some of the other mercenaries.
 
He’s really not, in fact he is very poor at this level. Not that any of our midfield are a great deal better
 
Don't particularly agree.
Saville has scored 6 goals and assisted 4 this season.

Last season Wing got 7 and assisted 2.

He's certainly more of a goal threat than Howson or Morsy, but Saville has been absolutely fine this season.
He still gets stick though.

Saville does get into good positions to score but his overall play has been poor to dreadful other than half a dozen games in the first half of the season. Wing is probably on a tenth of his wages as well.

on his day he looks superb add into that the absolute bangers he whips in. I like Lewis Wing a lot and i'd love to see him in a boro shirt doing the business week in and week out. But I also trust Warnock to get us into the playoffs next season and if that means Lewis Wing moving on to a team where he gets regular game time.. then so be it.

Wages is a fair argument, but Wing's general play is often dreadful too.

Take away his pot shots and he only offers the odd Hollywood pass.
Saville is more mobile and better at defending.

What I've seen in the games he's played for Rotherham is someone controlling the game, box to box defending and attacking and taking most free kicks and corners. That seems to be the view of Rotherham fans as well.

He may end up at Rotherham where he feels valued or a decent championship side that plays decent football may take a punt.

Saville could have had 15 goals had he taken half the chances he has missed.

Definitely could have, but he gets in the positions.
I think Wing has scored one goal for us that wasn't a screamer.

I'm happy for him to be here next season, but it's only how he scores rather than how many he scores that keeps him in the conversation.

If all 7 goals he'd scored last season had been tap ins, nobody would be bothered.

I was happy with Watmore's tap ins. I can understand penalties being questioned in goal total comparisons but a tap in is as good as a 40yd free kick at the end of the day

Wing scored 2 and assisted 2 for Rotherham this season.. without the defensive contribution that Saville brings to the team.

yeah, it seams like every long range banger is worth 2 or 3 goals.

Boro have conceded 29 goals in 19 matches since Wing left. Rotherham have conceded 25 goals in 22 games in the same time. Our defence is no great shakes.

He'd be more of a presence than either but I don't think he would improve us much as long as Warnock plays the rubbish football we've seen for most of the second half of the season. I think Howson's demise began when he was told to hoof, hoof, hoof. Saville is just poor, apart from getting into very good goal scoring positions. Sending him out on loan weakened our squad significantly after a couple of injuries.

I've been impressed with the Rotherham manager's use of him as they have, on paper, a dreadful squad compared with ours.

You start Wing over Howson and Saville and you get the team playing better football than we played for most of the second half of the season?
