Love or Loathe?

Personally... I think the guy is a machine

Working Class Background
6 World Championships (Probably a 7th this year)

People go on about his personality, fashion, etc - he's just the Modern-Day Rockstar of F1

If I have to choose between the two options then probably loathe, ignoring his tax status I think he's one of the most lacking in personality, identikit sportsmen out there, however his recent willingness to stand up for BLM in what is a pretty traditional sport is to be applauded as is his rise from the streets of Stevenage to what he is today.

Shame about the tax avoidance - whilst football players were taking pay cuts and donating money during the crisis what did Lewis Hamilton do in the tax haven of Monaco?

I find it difficult to loathe many people (other than Boris Johnson, naturally) and while I feel that sometimes he doesn't help himself with some of the comments he makes, he's generally a good guy. The problem with being a superstar in the modern world is being under the microscope constantly and that will always see that even the most angelic of people will slip up sometimes.

As a driver, he's arguably the greatest of all time.

Yeah, i understand about the tax status - but he's hardly the first person to do it

I wouldn’t loathe but I’m not a fan as all you have said J10 has huge caveats to it.

he owes everything to Ron Dennis who gave him an extraordinary chance and the kind of opportunity that is basically unheard of at a tp team as mclaren were then.

Ah yes, the tough streets of Stevenage, or the "slums" as he charmingly called them, I suppose from Monaco they look like that.

Haven't got any strong feelings either way. I like the fact he's from a fairly humble background and has gone on to achieve what he has, but love or loathe? Neither really.

Whilst they're not the slums, many areas of Stevenage are similar to many working class areas of the North East - ignore the fact they're surrounded by largely affluent areas, he could have taken many different paths in his life.

Certainly don't loathe him, but by no means a fan either. The way he comes across doesn't appeal to me broadly speaking, but not unlike many at the top of their game to be fair. I suppose they all have a certain arrogance and swagger, but I'm sure that's part of a winning mentality

He's not alone but his dress sense is questionable.

Admire his driving ability, he's obviously extremely gifted to be able to drive as fast as he does, almost without mistakes.
Tax avoidance will always be thrown in his face for obvious reasons.
He's not afraid to stand up for things he believes in, again s positive quality.
Would like to see him get 100 race wins and 100 poles.
Like him or loathe him? Probably like him but he does devide opinion.
I admire greatness and his driving ability is close to that ( not wanting to get into the best car thing )

Ex-McLaren boss, Ron Dennis, has likened his relationship with Lewis Hamilton as “surrogate father and son” and has continued to display characteristics that Dennis showed him.
McLaren were the team responsible in helping Hamilton up through the ranks after first officially signing him back when he was 13-year-old.

Six World Championship titles later and Hamilton still hasn’t forgotten his roots.

“I got a text from Ron and I just want to send my love, and thank you for spotting me when I was 10 years old and believing in me,” Hamilton said via Sky Sports F1 after title number six.

So from the age of ten Ron Dennis has him earmarked for F1 that is an incredible thing for anyone

I dont even know what that means

are you denying the influence Ron Dennis has on his career
No, starting a poll on loving or hating him when it's clear to everyone on this forum who follows F1 that you detest Hamilton both as a person and a driver.

Do you also have a doll you stick pins into?
