Lets talk about the white band....

All I'm firm on is red shorts.
I'm not precious about what's traditional or what's supposed to be our identity.

I'm very happy to vary the white trim. Personally I like to see interesting ideas.
Yokes.
Epaulettes.
Sashes
V's.
Hoop that goes all the way around (not this 'band' shyte).
Halves.
Quarters.
Any variation of the above... I don't care, but not that pile of toss we got in 16/17.

What?!? No, never, got to be white shorts. Boro strip for me will always be epitomised by St. John of Hickton adorned with a shirt of purest red (no white embellishments), pure white shorts (at least until he's slid one in on a 60's ploughed field of a pitch) and solid red socks (again no white embellishments).

So that will be the John Hickton who played the vast majority of his Boro matches in red shorts?

Can anyone remember a shirt that had white shoulders and a drawstring collar that was released as some sort of anniversary, worn for one match or something? I thought it might be the ZDS final shirt but that just had a bib. I have a very dodgy memory so I may be completely making it up.

................ the point being we all have an image that epitomises the Boro, mine probably comes from the moment as a kid when they truly came into my consciousness, and all those images are different ......... and that's OK. There is no right or wrong or points to be proved or scored, it's just a discussion.

No I know the one you mean. Think it was out for the opening of the Riverside... Like a recreation of a Camsell shirt with drawstring collar and white yoke.
It was out the same time as the yellow Juninho Brazil shirts.middlesbrough-retro-replicas-football-shirt-1922-1923-s_42566_1.jpgofficial-middlesbrough-brazil_360_2b732515c337b500599a48199ee69833.jpg

I vaguely remember a red Boro shirt with white shoulders.

I guess it might have been about 1968 or so. That predated the white hoop.

I didn't like that either. I guess I'm just of an age where simplicity is appealing. A shirt with no sponsor, no maker badge, no league badge - just the Boro badge - would be so much nicer. And white shorts, not red. It would be even nicer if it wasn't red, but that's just my disinclination to red.

With white shoulders 1912-1936 and again 1964-1966
