Lennie Lawrence joins Boro

Think he now lives in Whitwell not far from Stevo. Saw him in Emilys cafe about 3 months ago before lockdown.

Great stuff - Funnily enough I have been thinking of Lennie Lawrence as I have been jogging around Linthorpe because he used to jog every afternoon from Ayresome Park when he was manager. It is almost like I am following his trail all these years on from Ayresome Park estate as it is now.

Good manager Lennie, another nearly Boro manager, that season semi finals of the league cup, winning at Wolves to go, our 1st ever PL

Must admit I thought I had seen Lennie wandering around Guisborough a few months back.

Doubting myself now.

That photo is the moment that Bernie's Boro career started its final descent. He was less than impressed with the talk that Lennie is giving! (the expression on his face shows his feelings)

I thought Lennie's first 18 months were brilliant, but once things started to slip he just couldnt turn it round. That night at Old Trafford was very nealy my favourite all time memory of the Boro - if only Falconers header had been a fraction of an inch further from Schmeichel)

Happy birthday Lennie, very good manager for me.
Made some good signings & moulded them togethervwith the good playets he inheritef ay the club
Fighting on all fronts in a truly exciting promotion sesson, went to every home & away cup tie that season, including the full members cup, 5th round of the FAC, SF of the league cup & who could forget the manner of winning prpmotion ina packed south bank away end at Wolves

We started off well in the 1st ever PL but fell away as the season progressed & ended up telegated, after that he was batyling with the board for money to sogn playets & ended up recommending Nryan Robson for his job
