Every time I hear him he just sounds more and more like Mark Lawrenson used to, like he hates football and resents having to get out of bed to commentate on it. Just utterly miserable.

Exactly the same as Danny Murphy. Droll, boring and acting like they don't want to be there.
If that's the case move over and let someone with actual passion for the game in.
