League one is a sink

I think someone is forgetting what the play offs went like with that idiot in charge. There was more chance of the Dodo coming back from extinction than us scoring in the play offs the way he set us up.

That second leg will go down as one of the worst displays and set of tactics and use of subs I'll probably ever witness as a 'Boro fan.

And as for last season.....other than about 15 goal swing, we had no hope of getting into the play offs again going into the last game of the season.....and that was after being in the top 6 for about 90% of the season....which coincided with him breaking a long standing unwanted home record.

Monk failed
Pulis failed
Woodgate failed

Therefore Gibson has failed with all 3 managers.

But please feel free to continue to pretend Pulis was a success.

You’re back to your usual trick of arguing with yourself. Nobody said he was a success, you’ve literally made that up.

But equally he’s not to blame for where we are now. We lost the play-offs 1-0 over two legs, the way you’re going on you’d think we lost 5-0 over the two games. We were in it until the last kick of the game.

“ And as for last season.....other than about 15 goal swing, we had no hope of getting into the play offs again going into the last game of the season”

You have no idea what you’re talking about😂

If Derby had lost to WBA (it was 1-1 until the 70th minute) we would have got into the play-offs.

You wanted “literally anybody” to replace Pulis. You got your wish. It’s time you owned it.

When haven't I owned it?

The day we rid ourselves of Pulis, was the day our club should've moved forward. Not all clubs move forward though. Take Spurs for example. I bet Levy is regretting taking on Jose now....but that doesn't mean the decision to part ways with Pochettino was wrong....

Was it the correct decision getting shot of Tony Pulis? Definitely. Without a shadow of a doubt. He failed. He spent millions on players we didn't need and didn't prioritise the positions we needed filling.

Hence why he's part to blame for this current position because he assembled some of this squad of players.

Did I want Woodgate? No.

Was it the correct choice to hire Woodgate? No. Even at the time a lot (if not all) fans didn't want Woodgate. But plenty were happy to give him a chance and get behind him nonethless.

As for owning it. It's about time you accepted Pulis was a failure. Something you begrudgingly won't admit because it would mean you were yet again wrong about the initial appointment of your all time managerial hero Pulis.

Your silence on FMTTM during our worst home form in 20+ years, last season was deafening.

I'm sorry erimus but I can't agree. Like I said, he must have known fans didn't want him to get the job.

I can understand the temptation being too hard to resist, but what he should have said was that he was willing to give it a go, but only if Gibson appointed an experienced coach to support him.

I know there was talk of Steve Round being appointed at one point, but after it fell through Woodgate should have given Gibson an ultimatum, and told him you either appoint somebody else or I'll have to step down.

Reality is that Woodgate was too arrogant and didn't actually think he needed the help.

Massively disagree. I don't think Woodgate was arrogant just that he isn't intelligent enough to know that he isn't intelligent. He believed everything he said in all those interviews. The problem was it was just soundbites and platitudes and he didn't have the ability to analyse and implement a plan. He's always been good at what he does when he was a footballer but whilst being a manager involves the same game, it is a completely different skill-set needed to be good at it. It was clear as day to almost everyone that it was never going to work.

“All time managerial hero”:ROFLMAO: that’s a good one I’ll give you that.

My silence was deafening? I’d made my point over and over again. Whether we were top, second or in the play-offs, the stupid, spoilt brats in our fanbase wanted him out.

Whether we won 3-0 or lost 1-0, it was always “horrible anti-football the worst we’ve ever seen”.

I have more important things in my life than to argue with people who will argue black is white because they’ve made up their mind and will never reevaluate. I even had die hard Anti-Pulis people telling me the 1-4 defeat at home to Sheff Wed was “no worse than what we saw last season under him”

The players came out against the fans booing and the toxic atmosphere, the fans continued to boo individual players.

I said we’d struggle to get in play-offs after yet another miserable January window, surprise surprise we struggled and just missed out.

I also said it’s pointless crying about Pulis
and that changing manager would make absolutely no difference or will infact make things much worse as the next manager will be Jonathan Woodgate. I said this ahead of the time, back when I kept getting told the next manager would be a Jokanovic, Wagner, Allardyce, Moyes, etc, etc.

If Pulis was still here now we’d be nowhere near the bottom three, and we’d have scored more goals.

Gibson should have stuck to his guns and refused to be dictated by people who don’t have a clue what they’re talking about.

Pulis worked wonders to get this useless bunch looking like automatic promotion contenders for the first half of the season.

Ah here we go again. The defence of the old might one Pulis continues.

One day you'll let it go and realise Pulis was part of the problem and not the solution.

See above.

The sheer defence of a bloke who spent a fortune on players we didn't need, who thought it was ideal to sell our best striker and not replace him, who ended up breaking a long unwanted home record and still had us finish outside the top 6, is quite remarkable.

Yes you're right, Gibson should have stuck to his guns and kept a manager who repeatedly failed for two seasons whilst playing some of the worst branded football ever seen (this season has been very poor also before you state).

He couldn't accept criticism. I always remember his interview with the female journalist after we lost at Fulham, when she asked him why he chose not to start Fletcher and he got shirty with her 'you should be a manager you'.

And of course when we dropped into the bottom 3 early into the season and instead of acknowledging thing's needed to improve quickly he was giving it the 'come on, how many games have we got left to play?'.

Who can also forget the infamous 'the table is lying' line.

Yeh, I see that. It could be put down to him not recognising we were in a terrible situation and that's the best he could come up with. We always knew he wasn't the brightest but unlike Gibson the majority of us didn't need almost a full season for him to prove it.

I didn't want JW at the time but when he was appointed I crossed my fingers and trusted in Steve Gibson. I think everybody privately knew it was a disaster waiting to happen but did the same and got behind him (Being a local lad and all of that).

Truth of the matter is that after Pulis the situation was crying out for a Nigel Pearson, David Wagner or Jokanovic

For me, Chris Hughton seemed like the obvious appointment, especially after being sacked by Brighton. I know some weren't keen because of the style of football he prefers but he'd have had us up there competing, and he'd have been happy working with a tight budget.

Now I wonder why he's still out of work...it doesn't make sense.

He's probably retired to his massive house in Sandbanks with his not inconsiderable earnings out of the game and not wanting to get back into the rat race of football yet again. If he wanted a job I reckon he could get one.
