League cup so unfair.

Teams in Europe have likely 10 games more than the rest, if they were put in from round 1 they would just put full reserve sides out.
Maybe so but there reserve squad and substitutes still represent a team that would still hold its own in the Premier League, you can't expect to be successful and glean the best players from other clubs and then expect a leg up in your own competitions .

I think one of the proposals is that the teams in Europe would field u21 sides. We've seen from the EFL Trophy that they can rarely compete with League 1 and 2 sides, so can't see this happening.

If they did go through with that proposal, I'm never going to a League Cup match again.

Makes a mockery of the competition.

I agree but could be worse... Look at Coppa Italia, the top 8 Serie A teams don't join until the round of 16 meaning there's almost no winners outside the top 8.

Isn't this the cup that none of them are bothered about? The majority only put half a team out and I personally feel it is only Man City who field a strong team, even though it is their 3rd squad ;) .
Newcastle played 1st team last night
Some teams play stinger sides - I'd say it's on a par with FA Cup in terms of players 'rested' , squad players used etc

Newcastle vs Man City = dumped out by Man City
Newcastle vs Man Utd = if they don’t beat Man Utd.. they’re still not as good as us
Newcastle vs Forest = funny if Forest up their game.. but the beordies will be getting cup winners tattoos if they get this draw!
Well.. that’s Newcastle winning a cup!

I've just put on the Southampton thread that Man U will play Forest at Old Trafford and Newcastle to play Southampton at home.

Just been told the semi's are over two legs.

I just can't take in the news that Newcastle have reached a semi.
Normally they only ever achieve a semi in their trousers when Alan Shearer is on telly.

Southampton vs Newcastle
Nottingham Forest v Manchester United

He’re hoping for a Forest vs So’ton final..
with Southampton winning!

That's evident on this board at times, we recently had the best living eleven post and if you had anyone who hadn't played live on Sky, it didn't count.

We are coming to the end of panto season and it seems that Wishy Washy's did a marvelous job of cleaning up the Saudi money. :(
That wasn’t the point Norm and you know it wasn’t.

I made the point about few having seen Pele play many times, which they can’t have done unless they spent time in Brazil, and how Bobby Charlton wasn’t as good as Zidane or either Ronaldo. So don’t exaggerate.

In the words of Nobby, thanks 👍

This is a good trophy this year. No city/Chelsea/Liverpool or any of the recent usual winners (even United haven’t won it much recently). But also good that Everton and Spurs continue to never win anything.

Why do Arsenal never win it? 🤔

It’s basically 2 former giants and 2 minnows who’ve never won it 😉 , should be interesting semi-finals.
