Last time we played against a player-manager?

Just a little thought with Wayne Rooney's Derby County™ up next, who was the last team we played where their player-manager was on the pitch?

Latest I can find is Ruud Gullit with Chelsea in the 90s.

God knows.... Its almost a thing of the past. I doubt he will play much longer (or manage😂).

Apparently he kept getting passed notes from his No2 during the match. That can't really work.

Looked a shambles from the highlights I have seen of their match yesterday. Him reading notes in the middle of the game and Rosenior shouting him at every opportunity to see if they could agree on tactics. If he is going to be serious about it he needs to stop playing why he is in this temporary role and just be in the dug out. Looked so amateur yesterday

Rosenior seems like a bright lad. I would have liked to have seen him at the Boro. Obviously his PowerPoint presentation wasn’t up to it (or willingness to sacrifice his reputation and future career to save us a few quid)

Did you see the interview they both did together on Sky Sports? Kept talking over each other, Rosenior looking awkward, Rooney trying to answer quickest etc. Won't last at all that.

Yeah, it was comical. Looked 2 lads who literally were just thrown in. If I was Derby fan I would be very concerned at the moment.

I can't imagine Wayne Rooney cutting it as a manager. I don't have anything against the guy personally, but he's always come across as uninspiring and dull. (a bit of a pig fart)

Will he be Derby’s “outstanding candidate” after they scour the globe?

Maybe Woody can lend him his PowerPoint
