Larsen interview after 6.1 defeat today.

I agree with all of that except having enough in Akpom / Forss / Watmore / Coburn and Hoppe. I just don’t think there’s enough goals in that lot. We need a ‘marquee’ signing, someone to be the focal point of our attack. We don’t have that right now.

It'd put a lot of pressure on Wilder and that group of strikers if we don't bring in players to wear the 9 and 10 shirts. Essentially announces to the rest of the division that we're not the finished article and don't rate our own squad. It'd probably make it that much easier/quicker for the crowd to turn as well.

Have we ever not had a 9 before?

I know and they will know that too, but there is a time and a place and that isn’t it for me.
Normally I'd broadly agree with that sentiment, but given that we seem to have a deal in principle agreed, before his club and for more money, I can see how frustrated he is, so I'm not entirely surprised by his stance.

Is common these days for players to agitate the situation when their club won't agree a sale and the player wants to move. They have short careers and a handful of sliding doors opportunities and if they have to push some buttons to make that happen it's understandable.

His openness is premeditated for sure and I get why.

I dont think he was disrespectful but maybe his comments were aimed at the club in a way that says' im not happy, sell me or I maybe wont be as focussed'. As far as slagging off his team mates - they just got tanked 6-1, they needed a good slagging off! Any player that thinks that result was ok needs to give his head a shake.

With 2 weeks left of the window though we really need to be making a breakthrough on a striker soon - remember Wilder said he expects the 2 that come in to be the main 2 strikers in the team, the ones we have bought so far are development strikers

time is ticking

None of us really know the inner workings of our club, but there does appear to be a case of the player has had his head turned and is now thinking the grass is greener.

When other clubs do this to us like Liverpool and Ziege then there is hell on,are we doing something similar to Groningen?

Not Steve Gibsons style surely.

I really want us to sign him but nothing more certain if he smashes it with us,he will actively be looking for another move.
We aren’t doing anything.

We bid, they refused, we improved, they refused, we’ve withdrawn from negotiations.

What is it that you think Boro are doing wrong here?

Dutch football is not like English football at all Dutch as football is a shop window from the very top side to the rest and everyone in Holland knows this. Always has been infact that’s why it’s so vibrant as it launches careers ( esp in Europe).

Romario
Ronaldo ( real one)
Suarez

The things that some people see their arze over on here are baffling. In other countries (especially Holland) people are a bit more direct and honest. Reading between the lines I take it Groningen have said he can go for X amount, one maybe two clubs have offered that and they’ve gone back on their word and he’s rightly p***ed off.

According to Digger lad he has evidence the lad has been to Rockliffe for talks,if we've done that without his clubs permission then we're definitely guilty of turning his head.
You would like to think that's not the case and we acted In good faith, like I say not Steve Gibsons style that

Did he make it clear? Was he doing interview after interview? He just expressed his desire to leave when he heard of interest and it was all down respectfully

Did he though? If he had expressed his desire to leave, given the Bournemouth interest was rumoured for some weeks before he signed for them, and we’d played friendlies with him and not had a replacement lined up, and Wilder talked about him being a key player in the build up to the season, from the outside it would appear that he didn’t make his desire to leave clear at all. In fact, without knowing the details it seems to me more like he gave the impression he’d stay until it was the eve of a new season. Might be doing the lad a disservice but the timing of his move stinks. Personally, I’d have rather he made it absolutely clear that he wanted off so we could have planned for life without him and tried different players in his position against O Marseille.
