Lampard

I have heard Lampard speak over the years and he seems fairly intelligent and has a bit about him. He was a leader for years with Chelsea, although not captain but that's more because they already had Terry. Similar to Southgate and nothing like Woodgate.

He's a member of mensa or something isn't he? Very clever bloke (although appreciate you can have a high IQ and no common sense etc).

No comparison with Woodgate and his "village" nickname.

I dislike him more by the game. He seems really smug, but that's Chelsea all over I guess.

And delighted to see Azpiluceta with a losing medal. He spends more time rolling around in agony than he does actually playing the game.

He showed his potential with Derby

Gibson took a massive gamble with Woodgate and his inexperience, and lost

I don't mind Lampard, though I dislike Chelsea.

However I didn't think he did that good a job at Frank Lampard's Derby. They finished in the same place in the league as they did the previous season with one fewer point.

Furthermore, he didn't seem to be building anything: their success seemed to depend on loan signings from Liverpool and Chelsea. I think this showed in Derby's poor first half of the season.

Of course, if he'd have won the playoffs, it would be a different story, but that match has a fine line between absolutes.

I think he's doing OK... transfer ban last season... needs to sort his defence out, too many weak links for me & new keeper... worlds most expensive one is junk..

Yes but compare his first season as manager with that of Woodgate o_O

They won't win anything with Zouma and Christensen as the two first choice CB's.

Whilst not wanting to discuss the merits or otherwise of Woodgates intelligence, my mum said, many many time, to me you are a well educated idiot. She has been dead these last 20 years, what I would give to hear her minimize me one more time. A bit off topic.

I think he has done reasonably well this year. Next year though the pressure seems to be on. They are in the market for a lot of expensive players so I think the club bosses expect them to be a lot closer to the top 2.

Azpi is actually one of the few players who acts with a bit of decency at Chelsea.
