Labour Party finally has a credible leader again

So the ideology in itself isn't claptrap, just very difficult to achieve in the world we live in now but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't strive to change it.

Of course we should but I fear we now live in a self self self society. Maybe this pandemic will make people look at things differently but I doubt it will.

Of course not - but spouting 5hite about Blair 5hagging Murdoch's wife and wondering whether Starmer is going to do the same (yes, I know (presume) Wilf was tongue in cheek) is just childish, and presuming to know what Starmer will or won't do with policies when he's been in post for what, 3 days, and in the middle of a pandemic, is ridiculous

And breathe..... There are some good exercises at the top of the page.

I think it's a bit premature to be declaring Starmer as "electable". Personally see Labour having a very difficult time the next few years.

Ok, but none of that is ideology.

Sadly the most worrying issue isn’t the quality of Labour’s new leadership, strong as I believe it is, but the apathy and ingrained anti labour feelings of the electorate. Will they even give them a chance?

Wee Gord agree with every word and full stop(y)

I think that even with Brexit hanging over them the Labour party could/should have done better in the last election. For me one of the big failings was going too far on some of the policies. If they had focused on 1 or 2 of their more radical ideas then I believe they'd have had a bigger chance, there was too much change proposed, which was easy for the media to pick apart, and the last thing most people wanted was more turmoil on top of Brexit. A lot of things they proposed were 2nd term policies in my opinion.

Baggins I suspect the last election hinged almost solely on Brexit with Johnson promising to deliver and Corbyn saying he wanted another referendum with concrete options. Too many people didn't like the referendum being "ignored"

I noticed Sir Kier Starmer has apologised to the Jewish community. Shame he didn't do something earlier, rather than trying to elect an anti-semite into number 10. Is too little too late for many.

Also, I'm not sure how a millionaire, stark remainer who is pro-open borders plans to win back the "Labour Heartlands" either. These are some of the main reasons why people in such places voted against Labour in the last GE.

The best bit though was appointing a man as Shadow Justice Secretary, who was fined for instigating over 35,000 nuisance phone calls being made :ROFLMAO:

Uncle Rico, you believe Corbyn was an anti-semite?

Do you believe that he isn't?

Why are you going over old ground? It strikes me that you are not a Labour Party supporter in any shape or form now, if indeed you ever were, so understand your cynicism. Fact is Kier Starmer isn't anti Semite and as he’s the leader now that’s a very good thing. And by the way I don't believe for one moment Corbyn is anti Semite either.

His cabinet looks like it's back to usual PLP non sense..

I'll pass on that I think as will most other progressives.. without them he won't win anything.
